- moppy14w7 years agoSeasoned AceBeen searching and I think if I move the whole family out, and then split the parents (plus younger sibling) back into their original house, that might work. As long as I have everything I want the YA to take in the family inventory at the time of the original move?
- You could always take the items out of the family inventory and place them in the house, then put them into the YA's inventory to take with them.
- JackOnYourBack7 years agoSeasoned AceIf you really want the YA to have the exact furniture but doesn't want to just buy it from the buy catalog (and it doesn't fit in the peronal inventory) you could make a small room and place all the furniture you want the YA to have, and then upload the room to your library to then download on the new YA lot

The only problem with your suggestion is I have YET to find a way to put anything into a Sims personal inventory when it comes to furniture. Yes, they can keep their school books, their private journals and the toddlers and children can keep toys in theirs, but forget brining the TV you got for your birthday. I just tend to furnish the house my Sim is set to move into, prior to the move, then I use FreeRealEstate On to move them in. - moppy14w7 years agoSeasoned AceThat’s one idea I hadn’t thought of JackOnYourBack but it doesn’t actually take the furniture from the original family/inventory/house.
Thanks damagedlostbroken but GalacticGal is right; furniture doesn’t fit. I will be sure to “pack” what I can in the personal inventory though.
I’m glad you think it will work Jordyn because I’m looking to try baring any other suggestions. I could update and eat you all know. - moppy14w7 years agoSeasoned AceA word about attempting it by moving the whole family and moving back.
Remember to Sell Furniture when moving the whole family out the first step (I did this using the phone option in the game).
Your family inventory will remain intact, but the situated furniture will stay put awaiting your reduced family’s return. (You’ll probably need a cheat like freerealestate on)
I forgot to change to Sell Furniture when testing (thank goodness I decided to test in a new save).
I successfully spit Zoe Patel from the Roomies household with the contents of her room and then moved the three men back to their original house sans Zoe and her furniture using Manage Households.
Now to do it for realsies! - Pegasyms7 years agoSeasoned AceAs usual, there's a mod for that.
If you're not opposed to using mods, Scumbumbo's Packing Crates for TS4 lets you put any furniture into a special packing crate, which can then be stored in the sim's personal inventory. It works beautifully and you can find it here: http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=557383 - Oooh I had not thought of saving a room to the library and then re-importing it.
- moppy14w7 years agoSeasoned AceThat looks interesting @Pegasys. A nice little piece of gaming artistry. Thanks for sharing.
I have moved my Sim already, but I may keep this in mind for future moves.
It’s another way isn’t it @SimChessack? I imagine the items are all build mode full price when re-imported?
I can report that moving was successful. I moved the whole family to an apartment in San Myshuno (this meant no cheats) using the phone. When you sell the furniture, the new household (i.e. your YA) gets the value of the original house. :o
I unpacked the family inventory of all items I wanted kept before the first move {boy they gather a lot of junk, like real life!} and unpacked the inventory completely once at the apartment.
Then using Manage Households, I spilt off the family and moved the Sims I wanted back into their home using FreeRealEstate (which did prove to be essential as they only got given 20,000 for the move).
It means my YA is quite a bit richer than I ideally wanted and had the parents had more cash in the bank/on hand they would have been seriously shortchanged. But they got where I wanted them to go in the end.
{Anyone know how to tweak the family funds, so I can take some of that windfall from my YA?}
