- Sim mom: *slaves away at stove making spaghetti and artisan bread for her family, and perfect quality chocolate soufflés for dessert*
Sim child: *eats yogurt from the fridge*
Sim dad: *eats leftover pancakes*
Other sim child: *eats cereal and gets approximately 87 glasses of orange juice for the purpose of placing said glasses strategically around the entire house to rot*
Me: Why you ungrateful, rude, little clusters of pixels.... - This thread has me nodding so enthusiastically.
This stuff is the bane of my existence. I love having family meals and it’s so hard to do successfully! Whenever I do have the whole family eating at the same time I always take a screenshot of it, but of course right after I unpause after taking a pic, one of them stands up :s - Ugh, so true! We need this addressed in a patch like now.
- KittybassNew SpectatorIt drives me crazy, especially when I play large households. I now use the autonomy tuner in MCCC to stop it. They aren't allowed to cook autonomously anymore. When the leftovers are gone, I'll pick one to cook a party meal. If one of them gets hungry and I click to autosolve, I can tell when they were planning on cooking a fresh meal despite there being leftovers in the fridge. They'll just stand there and wave their hands. It's a bit of extra work to click on "grab leftovers" when this happens if they don't grab the leftovers autonomously (sometimes they do, sometimes they don't), but it's far less annoying than them all raiding the kitchen attempting to cook single plate meals while one sim is trying to make a family or a party size meal.
- I usually have one of the parents cook dinner while the kids are doing their homework. The other parent can help, or do their work stuff. Or I have one roommate cook dinner while the other one is doing the Daily Task. These things keep them away from the kitchen even when the hunger goes yellow. If one adult is home by themselves, I have them cook dinner early, about 2ish, sometimes. Someone can set the table, if you have Parenthood, and just have a minute or two to stall. Breakfast is always made in Party size while the others are in the shower, getting Focused, what have you. It just gets to be muscle memory after while. Even then, tho, it still occasionally happens, so I just explain it by saying that they didn't like what was being cooked. "OK, sure, be late for school/work/bedtime, burn down the kitchen, whatever you want, you are a Free Sim..." :smirk:
Yesterday I was playing away and someone came to the door IRL, a package delivery. I got back and saw that I'd left the game running. Mom and her teen son had gotten themselves to bed, and son had gotten himself up for school. Not so miraculous, but get this. He had eaten leftover eggs and toast, not spaghetti, and was also Focused for school, I guess by browsing Simipedia, which I tell him to do every morning. He was also working on his school project, and his Needs were green, at 7:30. Unbelievable!! Mom, thankfully whom I haven't yet given a career, was still in bed and had to pee really badly. Nice one, Mom... - I find this about as annoying as the next person. I ended up going into buy mode when the other sim is cooking and putting all cooking appliances in the family inventory until the sim who is cooking is finished. Also another method I do is engage the sims in an activity until the other sim is done cooking.
- I have the UI cheat installed and I'll just adjust the hunger bar up while the meal is being prepared and then move it down and call everyone to eat.

Good to know I'm not the only one to do this :D - I'm currently still annoyed by this. Its hard to make a family dinner. I wonder how they did it on the Seasons trailer where all sims eat together.
- ayyitsmellNew SpectatorThese things happen to me as well. They leave uncooked food on the floor or dining tables all the time. Most annoying thing for me is trying to set the table after cooking a few meals successfully and having the other members of the household grab a plate from the platter and sit down before finishing the table. Now only 3 out of 8 members have their plates on a placemat and some of them aren't even eating the food I just made

Or cake! I've taken to just dumping the cake in the garbage after the birthday party, unless another is coming up before the cake goes bad. Otherwise they eat their cake while I'm not looking, then two hours later they're hungry again, at which point they either have to starve until they can get home from work/school and eat, or I make very sure they don't go for more cake.
I've started doing this too, same with baked sweets like the brownies and biscuits. After a birthday the cake will go into the bin, sometimes I keep the brownies, but after a while, I just end up throwing them out because it's all my sims want to eat.
Same. There could be a million options for actual meals out in front of them and they'll go for the sweets every time. My sims love to eat sweets, especially cake, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also love to get in front of me as I try to place birthday candles and grab a plate, forcing me to make a whole new cake during events "TS1299;c-16527602" wrote:

With a lot of patience or cheats LOL
