I've been a simmer playing since Sims 2. I got this game a few days ago.
What I liked:
- I like how the two towns work together and it'll be interesting to see how they incorporate more towns in later expansions.
-I've been waiting for sims to drink and eat at the same time FOREVERR and I'm so glad that's finally been implemented. The multitasking is a huuuge plus.
-I wasn't a huge fan of the open world in Sims 3 so I think the open/closed world Sims 4 has is a good balance.
-When the female sims are pregnant, their weight gain is a lot more realistic than it's ever been.
-I like how they brought back a few of the Sims 2 romantic interactions like 'kiss on neck' for teens and 'passionate kiss'
-No more larvae babies, but I'm sure I'm not the first person who's said that lmao
-I love that they brought 'snuggle' back between children and adults
-PREGNANCY TESTS =D
-I was kinda pissed about loading screens at first but they are so short, it's like they hardly exist. Much shorter than the Sims 3 loading screens whenever they'd travel.
What I didn't like:
-I'm really annoyed that you can't carry the newborns around
-I'm really, REALLY annoyed that upon marriage, female Sims don't change their last names. I mean c'mon, that's basic stuff, I thought.
-Not enough beverages.
- The emotions are okay I guess, but I disagree that they make the Sims seem more alive. I personally don't see much of a difference besides the occasional grumpy march or sad walk. Furthermore, I don't really see how they add a whole lot more to the game play, which is disappointing being that was the selling point of the Sims 4. Or at least that's the way I took it. The faces are funny...
-There's not really a lot for my Sims to do. I mean, yea they can go to the museum and meet other Sims...or go to the bar or gym and do the exact same thing. I mean, after your third Ridge Port or working out for 5hrs straight, there's not a lot to do. Especially at home.
-I don't like the lack of family relation acknowledgement between father-in-law/brother-in-law/mother-in-law, etc etc. I haven't gone far enough to see if they acknowledge the family relationship between aunts and uncles/cousins, etc. The family trees need to come back and as to why they were taken out, I don't get.
-Story progression. Ugh, the SP is what made Sims 3 worth playing and is what kept Sims 2 from being the most perfect game on earth. How could you take it away from us?
-No phones? Maybe I'm just not looking in the right place, but besides the cell phone, there are no, like, regular house phones which is weird, unrealistic and I don't like it.
-There aren't enough careers. And there aren't very many, like, regular careers like doctor or Businessman/Businesswoman, etc. I can see where they were trying to go the same way as Sims 2 with the wackiness, but at least Sims 2 had more regular careers like Lawyer and Teacher and stuff.
Suggestions?
--> As for suggestions as to what should be implemented, I think anniversary parties should be added and bachelor/bachelorette parties should be brought back.
Overall thoughts? I agree with nw411ma247. I think you guys would really benefit by having veteran Sims players play the game first so we can give you this kind of feedback before the game launches. I mean, there's so much stuff that was in the base launches for the previous games that are not in this one and there seems to be a pattern. I mean, it looks like we're gonna have to invest in expansion packs to see pools and stuff like that again and that seems really effed up, imho. There's not enough to do in this game compared to what the previous base games offered and it's really overpriced for how little content this game it actually has. Needless to say, I'm a little frustrated, however I'm willing to see what you devs do with this game.
