They understand the game market, though -- at least they understand how to manipulate people. You have to understand that they want their games good enough to sell, but they're not worried about coming out with the next big thing. There is one AAA developer I can think of who has not fallen down this rabbit hole, which means that for AAA games, your choices are limited.
So I try to stick with indy games. CDPR is my one exception there.
For EA, I might argue the opposite. Eating up smaller companies and then forcing those devs to work with a skeleton crew for long crunch hours, with poor management (if any management at all - see the mess at Bioware for their last several games), and popping out terrible game after terrible game and ruining the old company's reputation to the point where they disappear, and then the CEOs pat themselves on the back with their fat wallets.
If they had any sense I feel like they'd give the people who shove money at them at least ONE good game, listen to what these people want. But no, they force a company with background in some of the most popular RPG games to make a MMO shooter with terrible lootbox nonsense, no coherent story line to speak of, and awful mechanics.
EA runs off the hype and nostalgia of older game studios who put heart into their work, and then they drive those people into the dirt and clean up rather handsomely for the big wigs, while making all their players who stuck by them realize we aren't getting anything of quality out of these people ever again. So long as they make a profit who cares what games they vomit out year after year? Just look at FIFA
Is ruining your company's reputation really so profitable that all this is worth it?
