Too many loading screens! You shouldn’t have load to a new lot when you are within the same area. It takes up more time and lags generally the loading screen to reload to a new scene in the SAME area! I’m not saying their isn’t a purpose for loading we just don’t need so many for everywhere we travel it's just takes up more timeIf we are in the same neighbourhood and want to visit a neighbour on the same street or apartment or go to a different bar in the same neighbourhood we shouldn't have the loading screens. Not the same area, IN the same neighbourhood.

It takes less time in a loading screen than it did to travel across the map in Sims 3. This is Sims 4, not Sims 3 and many of us like it like that. I hated how long it took to get places in Sims 3. I love in Sims 4 how easy it is to click on the phone pick your companions and boom, you are on your way. Pick a destination (In any world - not confined to one) and you are there. That is the beauty of Sims 4.

That's pretty rude, actually. There are for's and against's for loading screens. For me, personally, I quite like the open world because travelling around made the game more immersive and realistic. I liked roaming around the open world, but that's just me. Having loading screens plays like second life or similar which is not really my thing. It's all down to personal taste. If they must have loading screens, then at least the neighbourhoods could be open because they went from a completely open world to a completely closed world - one extreme to the other. A compromise might have been more acceptable.

Currently I am happy with how the worlds are set up. How the loading screens are set up. I think the same way as you as before, I also want to have open neighborhood, however it will come to a cost. The reason why to me I feel The Sims 3 is shallow is the openness it offers. We had no loading screen after the big one loading screen, however if I want to send my sims on a date, the only choice I had fully control of them is at the Park, Pool, and Library. Wanted to see your sim to date at the Spa? Restaurant? Movie Theater? well you had no control of them inside of a rabbithole. Of course we may not see the return of rabbitholes in the game but it will result of the removal of a lot of features. An example is the business System. The reason why businesses didn't work on The Sims 3 is the open world itself. Without the open world the game can change coding of different lots during a loading screen just like The Sims 2. But since the world in 3 was open, it didn't happen. We didn't get a fully functioning restaurant, and the ability to run a business. Yes we got one in Midnight Hallow however the open world itself was the problem why we need rugs to make them functional, and there isn't a new big gameplay it offer, unlike in Sims 2 and 4 where the new gameplay is confined at that specific lot(e.g. Perks system). Now I don't want features I paid for which is the Retail, Restaurant, and the Vet business to be removed for the sake of loading screen.Let us not forget that side from that we had simmers who doesn't had high-end computers. The limit per lot is 20 sims add more sims to that it will be a lagfest. Yes the team may give the players an option but what would be the purpose of an openness if the player feels it as a ghost Town because he/she dosen't have a very good computer?That is my point of view. I however agree about apartments. They need to change that.

Hmm ... the Sims 4 loads so much faster than The Sims 3 and The Sims 2. I don't mind the extra loading screens since it enhances game performance. I can understand why they brought back the loading screens; it's especially beneficial for me since I'm playing on a MacBook Air. I haven't tried playing The Sims 3 on my MacBook, but I definitely think it would be slow as it occasionally lagged on my gaming laptop that I used to have. I've heard from other MacBook Air users that The Sims 3 was barely functional, but The Sims 4 functions perfectly.

The many many loading screens in TS4 have always bugged me and it's the reason why I don't leave my lot that often, lol. It's not that they're slow, because the speed is... acceptable. I just hate my game getting interrupted by them all the time. The argument that the one in TS3 was longer... well, that really was only one loading screen to go through, versus a ton if you want to go somewhere all the time in TS4. I could live with it. xD Both games were just as fast for me, but TS3 felt faster, because it didn't have the loading screens. I wouldn't go back to TS3, because there are things I do like about TS4 (mainly the overall stability of the game, and I also very much like the pets), but the loading screens will always be my one pet peeve.

I would love to see open neighborhoods in the game. One of the things I love best about the open world in Sims 3 is seeing my immediate neighbors coming and going and being able to walk next door or across the street to visit.

Did you read what they said? They didn't say somewhere else on the map, they said next door now you know good and well it didn't take a long time to walk next door and ring the bell.

FYI, NOBODY mentioned the sims 3, it's irrelevant. I'm talking about having loading screens within the same area like going to a apartment across from you or a house across from you in the same area. Changes I think the sims team can rectify with their many skills.

Really go back to the Sims 3?

Back home: 35 seconds real time (due to walking time till loading screen, I used speed 3 of course)
Sim time going: 12:14-12:16 (=2 seconds); returning home: 2:32-2:42 (=10 minutes)

This on the same computer, obviously.

So apart from the fact you can teleport in an open world, even the slowest car is just a fraction slower than Sims 4's loading screen and that is to the far end of the world. When you visit your neighbours you're a lot faster (in Sims 4 you're not).

With Regular cleaning of your cache, loading screens in The Sims 4 are 3 - 4 seconds.
For me, by the time the “game hint” appears under my loading screen, it’s done.

I can also load a Sims 3 save in around 7 seconds total (granted, I turned Story Progression off).

A good SSD drive is amazing.

They already confirmed, loading screens allow multi-tasking and packs like Get To Work, Dine Out, running a Vet in C&D etc.

It also allows proper Community Venues. The reason why Community Lots in TS3 are so poor is because all gameplay is tied to objects, not the lot or game.

The difference between a community lot and Residential lot in TS3 is “visitors allowed” being toggled. That’s it.

Open World is useless to me when there’s nowhere to go. The store venues like the Cinema, Bistro, Bakery and Spa are an absolute joke for $15 - $22 each, the Savvy Seller collection is abysmal and an embarrassment to Open For Business and makes the Retail system in The Sims 4 look like the second coming.

The Sims 1 and 2 always have amazing places to go, and The Sims 4 is still building on it.

I can have all of the EP venues in 3 placed, and all of the store venues placed and be bored.

Credit where credit is due though, TS3 University was very well done and it’s a shame that EA only figured out how to make the best of limitations so late in the game

I actually like the loading screens. Sure the open world of 3 was nice and all. But I've been playing the sims since the first game came out like 20 years ago and I like them. Because they have funny and useful text scrolling by. The Sims 1 & 2 had funny texts and The Sims 4 have really useful tips and ideas and even though I've had the game for a long time, I still sometimes learn something new. And the load screen in the sims 4 is waaaay faster than The Sims 2. At least for me because I have a way better computer to play it on.

Everyone likes different things, it would be pretty boring if everyone thought and felt the same thing.
