First off, I have not updated my game and will not until my mods get updated.
But I am playing a decades challenge and have gotten a sudden influx of simes with odd names. To name a few, Spider Torres, Lizard Clark, and Cloud Lee. Most are teens but there are a few adult sims as well. This has never happened before and it has me utterly confused.
Any idea what it could be?
Did you recently get Horse Ranch? Some weird names came along with that EP.
It is due to Horse Ranch, those are meant to be pet names...I think it was fixed a few patches ago. Ngl I like this bug 😅
I do have Horse Ranch, but this was the first time I have witnessed this bug lol The only update I have not done was the most recent pre-patch for the Love pack. I kinda like it too, but it's just a little offputting for my current playthrough lol

If its fixed, not in my game. But only Chestnut Ridge townies get those in my game, and I , like BlueSeaWaves , like this but, haha, fits to my townies in that place.
I too have a few wierd names in my game since I bought the Ranch pack, like Cypress, or Sage. I find them funny and kept them. But I also think they were mainly meant for horses or mini animals.
That's hilarious and honestly I like those names more than the ones in my game. For some reason ALL my townies have names from the Island pack or the Snowy Adventure pack so mainly Japanese and islandy names and I hate it lol. I mean it's fine or whatever but it being ALL of the townies is a lot.
yeah I usually get Sulani names on randomized sims and I also usually delete all the randomized sims as they spawn

Sounds like your game likes to spawn Chestnut Ridge townies as much as mine seems to prefer Mt Komorebians, even in saves where I haven't even visited that world.
To my American ear, the Chestnut Ridge names evoke "backwoods" regions, and also some Native American naming traditions, so they're not all that immersion-breaking to me personally, but I can see them being jarring to people from farther away!

These names (both first and last names) are taken from NativeAmerican namelist. So yeah, these are not pet names, but rather names for sims meant to be inspired by Native American names.
