Two questions about gameplay

Hey all! I have two questions unrelated to each other but I figured why not put them in the same post. Hope that's ok.

1. It's been awhile since I've had a sim paint for money. He is NOT in a rabbit hole career for painter because he also owns a vet clinic, but paints on the side. What's the best way to make money with the paintings. Sell to collector? art gallery? or sell the paintings in the park?

2. Speaking of vet clinic...this is the first time I've done this. Has anyone hired three employees? I have two now and things are going good...but has there ever been a real need for a 3rd?
  • For your painting question, as far as Sell to Collector vs Sell to Art Gallery, Sell to Art Gallery gives more money. I am not sure how well selling paintings at a park or any other venue is (money-wise) compared to that, though.
  • You can get better prices "in the park" with the Street Gallery because you can mark up the prices. The main problem is finding a good place to sell them. A lot of areas have so many distractions that the prospective buyers just wander away. The best location I found was outside the front door of the Hare and Hedgehog cafe in Windenburg. Lots of sims show up there and there aren't many distractions, so they don't wander away very much. On the other hand, I did have to have start another sale after the first one ended more than once. It helps if your sim has lots of free time. And even at that location there were times I didn't get ANY buyers.
  • 1. If the street gallery works (I remember hearing that it was broken), then it is the best way to earn money from paintings.

    2. If you don't feel like you need 3, then don't waste money hiring another is all. I enjoy having three people to clean up, but it isn't necessary.
  • Not sure about painting, but I've played with the vet career a few times and never remember a third employee being an absolute necessity. The pre-made clinic only has two exam tables anyway, so if you're using that, then there isn't much for a third employee to do. I had my sim and one of the employees do treatments, while the other employee handled cleaning.
  • About selling paintings. I never had a street sale of paintings, but I'm pretty sure my sim would find time to paint an extra painting instead of selling, meaning if skilled you could easily make ยง1000 extra if not doing the active sales stand. If you sell well on that stand, it could still be better though. Besides, it would be more fun if money is not very important.

    I never owned a vet.

I thought it was useful to have a third assistant hired just to clean up vomit, when last I played around with a clinic. Wanted my vet and the other two assistants focusing on treating the animals.
  • Yeah, has anyone tried the Street Gallery lately? I haven't tried it since it was still broken a couple patches ago. I'm not in game atm. I know it hasn't said it was fixed in the Notes, but things get fixed all the time, and aren't in there.

For the 411, the Street Gallery is available if you have City Living. It can be found in the Activities and Skills section. Make sure you do all the steps, filling the inventory, choosing what markup (you can have all the way to 300% or some rather cheaty markup, haha), then choose Stock Wall, then Tend, then Start Sale, lotta steps. This is all if it's working, haha.
  • Its been a while since I have had my sims earn extra money from painting but I think I didn't really got much money from the gallery but got paid from a collector depending on the quality of the painting keeping masterpieces.
