So this doesn't work for any career? We can't complete both branches of any career? Joxer, didn't you say that you could complete mixology first and then complete chef, but just not the other way around?
Idk what Joxer said, but you can complete the cooking and mixologist aspirations if, and only if you choose the mixology career path because the cooking aspiration does not require anything within the cooking career branch to complete."JoxerTM22;12849799" wrote:
It's not unintended, it's not a bug, it's a design decision.
Real world aside, let's not mix careers and skills in the game. You can max all skills on one sim. You just can't specialize in both career branches.
What's with the condescending "Let's not" business? I'm not confused about the difference between a career and a skill."KirbySkywalker;12903313" wrote:

Thank you, @KirbySkywalker! My character is almost to the point of selecting, so I'll have her do mixology first.
Since a Sim can become both a chef and a mixologist only if they become a mixologist first, I highly doubt that this was an intentional design decision. It seems to just be an oops."JupiterGirl;12915810" wrote:

Uh oh, I think maybe there was a misunderstanding. It is impossible to enter both career branches of any career. I was talking about Aspiration Rewards. You can get both Aspiration Rewards (Master Mixologist and Master Chef) ONLY if you go into Mixology branch. Because Master Mixologist requires you to reach a level in the Mixology career. But the Master Chef aspiration does not require any milestone from the Chef branch.
Here is more from Carl's Sims website:
Master Chef
Total Satisfaction Gained: 4,675
Reward Trait: Fresh Chef Makes your Sim always make high quality food, and it never spoils, meaning big meals can last a long time.
Milestone Objectives: Complete excellent meals, some specific types of food in large quantity, and cook while inspired. Leveling Cooking is required, as is earning Silver at a Dinner Party. You must reach level 5 in the Culinary career and achieve level 5 Gourmet Cooking skill. Cook 20 Excellent Large meals and 5 gourmet dishes at one single event.
Notice, you don't need anything from the Chef branch to unlock this Aspiration.
But from the Master Mixologist Aspiration:
Master Mixologist
Total Satisfaction Gained: 4,525
Reward Trait: Potion Master Gives your Sim the ability to mix drinks that affect other Sims' Emotions.
Milestone Objectives: Mix many drinks, including 10 at a single social event. Own a bar and two barstools. Level the Mixology skill and make numerous excellent-quality Drinks. Joining the Mixology Branch of the Culinary Career is necessary, as is being an Adult. Master Mixology and create 10 different types of Excellent Drinks.
So, Joining the Mixology Branch of the Culinary Career is necessary to unlock the Master Mixologist Aspiration.
Hope that helps clarify!- I guess I fell into this trap.
One has to make the decision which branch (chef or mixologist) of the culinary career you wish to focus on BEFORE maxing out in either branch... Once you've maxed out in the chef branch, you can't return to pursue the mixologist branch to fulfill the Master Mixologist aspiration to achieve the Potion Master skill trait.
I maxed out the chef branch and tried quitting to find that I could only return to the profession beyond the point were I could pursue mixology. I tried going to the wishing well to wish for a promotion without making any donation, hoping that I could be demoted back to a previous point, but it hasn't worked out yet. - RZ_Princess10 years agoSeasoned Traveler

If you use mods, there's a mod for that now that lets you change branches http://modthesims.info/download.php?t=550501 - Can someone please finally fix this issue? This is clearly a bug, it has been reported across various sites since 2014. The issue is still open e.g., here: answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4-Bug-Reports/OPEN-Rejoining-a-Branched-Career/m-p/3532999#U3532999 and here: answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4-Bug-Reports/NOT-FIXED-TECH-GURU-CAREER-STUCK-ON-LEVEL-4/m-p/5240984#U5240984.
It looks like like it may be caused by the Connections Trait Reward which causes the Sim to auto-start at a higher level which gets reported from Level 1 despite being Level 5+ already. - That's just your choice. If you want to complete every single aspiration on one Sim, then you need to plan it, for example you'd need to choose Comedian rather than Entertainer too or Joke Star would be impossible. TS4 is about you making choices, that's not a design flaw. If you wanted to complete the Mixology aspiration, why did you choose Chef? You can complete the Chef aspiration by choosing Mixologist career, so you had no reason to pick it if you cared about the aspirations.

Because the game says you can, Switch at anytime without losing progress. Even an achievement to complete all Aspirations with one Sim under the achievements for players. Because the game says you can.....- > @FireWork1987 said:

You don't ever have to choose the chef branch. If you choose the mixology brach, you are still working in the culinary career so you can get to level 8 which is all the Master Chef aspiration needs. That way you can complete both aspirations without cheats or mods. I did it in my game and it worked.
