There's currently a flea market in my San Myshuno, and out of 2 vendors, both are MY sims, not NPCs. I dislike this so much because what they are selling has no relevance to what they do for a living or their personality. And - I know that next time I play them I will find their inventory packed with all versions of what they sell. The rather poor Natalie will have the inventory filled with more or less costy crystals, and I will need to use a money cheat when selling them because she was never meant to have tons of crystals for sale. She is a stay at home mom who occasionally go to the river in Oasis Springs to fish. It's totally wrong to see her selling crystals in San Myshuno! She would not even have afforded traveling all the way to San Myshuno...Also the other of my sims is from Oasis Springs. He is married to one of the wealthiest persons in my game, and he too descand from a top notch family money wise. He is into history and do some Archaeology trips to Selvadorada, when he feels like it. This day he is dressed in a politician suit selling *lamps* on a flea market. Huh??? I expect to find a bunch of table lamps in his household inventory next time played.I'd appreciate if the game would rather get those vendors from NPC characters. My game has probably several hundreds characters who do not live anywhere and has no story etc set by me. They were created by the game for various reasons. Can't they be the vendors? I realize none of them will have a household inventory - is that why my sims are randomly used as vendors?Creating characters in this game is quite essential for the game experience. Seeing your characters in totally wrong situations must be avoided, it ruins the fun. I want to be the one deciding what my sim shall do, and my wealthy sim shall definitely not be a flea market vendor.

Wow, that's even more irritating than how the game likes to turn on the advanced movement options on vampire sims when you go to play another household! Yes, I'd definitely like to see the game's AI take our own choices and actions with our sims and the traits and skills we give them more into account when we aren't playing them. As it is, the game's sad excuse for "story progression" is like trying to play dolls with someone who knows nothing about your Barbies and their personalities and backstories and wants to take your tomboy character, slap her in a ball gown, and have her fawn over a guy she normally despises. I'm glad I generally ignore the flea markets and festivals these days...

Even when leaving my played sims alone, there are so many to choose from. I don't even recall seeing all those game created NPCs in my game, the list in "manage households" seems endless. Should definitely be enough to satisfy hundreds of flea markets...

Same. I don't understand why there can't be a set of NPC sims programmed to hold specific jobs. At the very least, played sims shouldn't be selected to be options.

I was a little storyteller even back then. :) But back to the topic, it bothers me as well to see my well thought out characters suddenly acting as vendors for food stalls, flea market stands and bar tenders. Just get not in world sims to do it or set NPCs.

Not only flea market vendors, the same problem also happens with bartenders and bouncers. I really don't know what's so difficult about assigning these roles to NPCs. Just blacklist sims under the "my households" tab in manage worlds and use one of the hundreds of random sims the game likes to generate so much.

Vendors at festivals and markets should be NPCs only

Yes, I'd definitely like to see the game's AI take our own choices and actions with our sims and the traits and skills we give them more into account when we aren't playing them. This description made me chuckle a little cause I was that person whose Barbie dolls all had names, personalities, backstories, families, etc. They even had a fictional town they all lived in. I was a little storyteller even back then. :)

Not only flea market vendors, the same problem also happens with bartenders and bouncers. I really don't know what's so difficult about assigning these roles to NPCs. Just blacklist sims under the "my households" tab in manage worlds and use one of the hundreds of random sims the game likes to generate so much.

Or they could make Bouncer a part time job, and use sims who actually signed up for that job. Same for bartenders, either part time job or use sims who already work as Mixologists.

It's not in the mod description as I forgot to update the description when adding it, but the mod does prevent played Sims from beeing assigned as flea market vendors on top of fixing the outfits.

Is there a mod that makes sims fill the bartender, catering, Musician, Comedian, or DJ slots if they are already in that career? This way sims don't randomly get pulled into a job that doesn't fit what they're doing or has no background in that skill or career.

Personally I would prefer it if the game prioritized ALL "NPC" jobs in this order:

Unemployed NPC sims currently Not In World.
Unemployed Housed Teens
Unemployed Housed grown Sims
Randomly generate new townies

(And, if I add more "townies" (Not In World Sims) manually it should delete unnecessary random townies and replace those jobs with my new townies).

Because Random Townies always are horrible. What I really don't get is why most jobs can be assigned to unemployed Sims by the game (Gym and Yoga trainers, Bartenders, Food stalls) but others generate random townies ONLY (Paparazzi, for example, or Maids or...)
