- jeni2810New SpectatorI have mixed feelings about this. I like the randomness of what happens, but at my last wedding, there was a chef station at the venue, the caterer was busy making all sorts. Not being entirely sure they could bake a cake I added a normal stove and counter, only then to discover the cake in the fridge. So added a suitable table, but couldn't drag it out, so had to get the bride to place it in world, waiting so I could immediately add the topper. She stopped halfway and put it on the floor and by the time I realised , it was almost eaten!
I usually have a birthday cake in the inventory, in fact I managed to age up most of my 7 toddlers with the same chocolate cake!
Differently priced wedding tiers (pun intended) would be a great feature. - Hi,
I haven't noticed this in my game do you have any CC/Mods installed in your game? - That's why I always had someone bake a wedding cake to be placed in the bride's or groom's inventory before starting any wedding party.
- RouenSimsSeasoned TravelerI always have the bride or groom make their own cake.
- never had hired sim making wedding cake i just got used to making it myself before starting a wedding after first fail
I also find that caterers just really be making total random dishes until you tell them to get out like it never ends
stressful really - I say it's a 50/50 sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. I have noticed a bug where my caterer wouldn't make anything else and was stuck in one spot until I told my sim to place the cake topper. I think he was trying to do it himself but was bugged out and the game locked until someone else put the topper on.
- whubble1817New ScoutSometimes they only make a cake which is annoying but more often than not, they don't make a cake. Luckily my sims usually can bake their own real quick LOL

They never have and probably never will - at least when I play - I've given up on weddings - I have them elope.
I tried the elope feature once. I thought they would go through a rabbit hole or something but instead they just sort of stood in their living room and exchanged vows. Is that normally how it happens? - GalacticGalSeasoned AceI always have my Sims bake their own wedding cake. It's very disconcerting that a cake is about all the caterer knows how to make. I've resorted to making sure I have the Banquetia Plateau table in my game. (I'm uncertain which pack it came with.) Then my Sim only needs to serve all and presto, food! Otherwise the caterers hired tend to make the oddest party-fare. Also, I've noticed that they only bake cakes for the Birthday Party, so annoying.

Yep, that's how it works. They just get married on the spot.
