- Hello
I am sorry that this has occurred with your desktop :( Perhaps it may work later on, or you could take it to a computer technician who may be able to repair it, or help you get the files that are on it. - HillyPlays8 years agoSeasoned AceIt's fried. I found a new tower- that my cousin actually shared on facebook- that has 8GB but I'm not sure if we can get it.
- Are you certain it isn't your power supply that's gone? I'd test that first because it will save you a lot of money.
- Could just be the power source, i'm pretty sure my psu just blew, I got a new one off of amazon for $21 and plugged it up. Beats taking it to a computer store.
- You may like to start a new thread in the Sims 4 Tech section of the forums, and simmers there will help you to find a desktop that will be capable to run the game and packs.

So...this actually happens? Because the other day we had a terrible thunder storm and I was wondering if I should unplug my laptop.
It should be less of an issue with a laptop, the battery would work essentially like a shock absorber for the extra charge, not to mention that it's a whole lot easier to change the power supply if that gets killed.
But if you know there's a storm, it's still not a bad idea to unplug.- Sorry to hear about your computer. :( This is why it's a good idea to unplug them during a thunderstorm, amongst other things.

And like the others said, it might just be your computer's power supply unit that broke, while everything is still fine. There's a good chance it's still salvageable. - I'd see if only your PSU got damaged. My son had a friend that had the exact same thing happen to him. Power outage, computer was on, killed the computer. He replaced the PSU and the rest of his computer was perfectly fine. In the future, as many others had said, it's always best to have a computer (as well as TV's, etc) plugged into a surge protector. You can get them fairly cheap and they are so worth the price. I live in a highly stormy area, and when I know the weather is going to get bad, I just shut off all pcs and play on laptops not plugged in.
