From what I've heard (elders get cains etc., more stuff for teens and kids around school and such, better weddings and funerals, etc.) I think it would be good as a game pack where you focus on game play with no new world needed like Parenthood does. Parenthood does gameplay really well, better than a lot of EPs.
I think the amount of new animations, CAS items, & interactable B/B items would necessitate a gamepack.
Parenthood GP was only about that: parenthood gameplay, between parents and kids. A Generations EP would have gameplay content for EVERY life stage that didn't relate to parenting.
Ex.:
Kids: playing tag/hopscotch/hide and seek, boarding schools, first crush, more playground equipment, kids' bikes/scooters/skateboards, more after-school activities (TS3 had ballet, karate, a more detailed scouting system, etc.), sleepovers, imaginary friends
Teens: prom, first date, graduation, boarding schools, pranks, more after-school activities (TS3 had art club, science club, dance club, drama club, debate club, school newspaper, shop class, sports club, study hall), learning to drive, throwing a party while parents are on vacation
Elders: arguably the sims w/ the least development across all iterations of The Sims franchise. But, in addition to the canes from TS3, some features that could come to a hypothetical Generations EP for TS4 include: retirement home/senior center lot type, bingo table, wheelchairs, casinos, "Reminisce About the Old Days" interaction, and Elders coming to school for "Career Day"
Also, a Day Care lot type and active career (again, like in TS3).
I guess I don't see why all of that can't be in a game pack. It sounds more like a game pack, with a focused theme that it expands gameplay for. It seems more similar in scope to Vampires or Parenthood than say Seasons or City Living. Especially as it wouldn't need a world necessarily.
More kids games and equipment would really be the only stuff for new animations. The clubs are rabbit hole, I expect prom and graduation would be too. Boarding school wouldn't need anything new either. Bingo would reuse existing animations too I bet. A few new lot types and new events would be nice too for elder home, day care & funeral. Some of those things like teaching to drive or wheelchairs won't come with it as we don't have cars and if they do disabilities it will be free.
Unless they did something like including active schools (so a bunch of those wouldn't be rabbit hole too), had a really big world with it (which they've said they won't do) or something extra, it just doesn't seem to have enough as an EP. Honestly it seems like this is the ideal game pack, very specific gameplay, no world or much bb is needed, can focus mostly on gameplay and animations. Prior to the past year, game packs have actually been better for gameplay than expansions. Maybe I just expect too much lol. "JemmaTheSimmer;c-17914213" wrote:

Ye it seems more like an expansion since it would have multiple aspects to focus on. A game pack would be taking one thing like, graduation and do a whole pack on it and only focus on that one thing.- SEREFRAS4 years agoSeasoned VeteranWell, I really really want Werewolves with a Lunar Cycle & a Sims 4 Moonlight Falls, however that probably won't be it. So, maybe a Romantic Niagara Falls Expansion Pack. <3
- JestTru4 years agoSeasoned NewcomerI think a generations type pack might be next. I would like a band/showtime type pack.
- I think it'll be Generations. I'd love to see an amusement park EP, but that feels like it would be more like a summer release than in November/December. Plus, there's been comparatively very few comments about Amusement parks, even the forums haven't built the hype up for them yet.
There's always the idea it could be time travel related. Something medieval in the fall months would feel great. - I'm hoping for any of the following:
- A "romantic" pack set in Sims Italy/france, that adds an attraction system, more depth to relationships (crushes should be a thing), and ofc drama.
- A Hotel pack that permits players to FINALLY build multiple lot types on one lot (A restaurant with a Cafe or Bakery, residential with a restaurant below it, etc.)
- Another Urban/City world. We've only got San Myshuno. - davina12214 years agoNew SpectatorI don't think we'll ever get a generation pack because they are piecemealing it in all packs.
House builder is a job I would love. Was hoping they would put it with decorator one.
Casinos, hotel, resort like with Sims3. Running a resort. - 83bienchen4 years agoSeasoned NoviceWishful thinking but anyway - I hope it'll be next.

I think Horses will come in a Game Pack. We had a ton of animals come in Cottage Living but no horses so I think Horses will come different.
Also, I am so sick of people asking for Generations. Not because Generations is bad, but because you know that the things in Generations are actually coming in multiple packs themed seperately. Generations pack has kind of already happened. That's not to say it's better than Generations, but if it happens slower they can get more packs out of it.
We've had Toddlers Update, we've had Discover University, we've had Parenthood. Now what we need is a proper Elderly pack, not just something small like Nifty Knitting.
I agree that they add a fair amount of 'generations' like content throughout the various packs, but there's still so much the developers could do with a dedicated family themed expansion pack that simply cant be accomplished through various packs. We NEED generations, an entire EP just for family play, we shouldn't have to purchase multiple packs to get a good amount of family content. Parenthood was an amazing first step, now let's bring the energy and attention to detail to an entire family EP. - Isharell4 years agoNew SpectatorI'd like a Medieval time travel expansion pack. Building that kind of world would take an expansion pack. But I think a lot of folks would get ticked off if horses and dragons could only be gotten by buying that pack.
