What Happened to my Butler?? Need Help Please.

I'm really not sure and would be interested in the answer to this as well. It happens fairly often in my game too. Usually, it coincides with my sims getting to know/becoming friends with them. I think I just assumed after you get to a certain friendship level the game trades them out for whatever reason but that doesn't make much sense?
