It’s a joke. It’s nothing to do with lockdown. There are plenty of games getting patches (a lot more promptly than the sims 4 btw) and those patches aren’t fixing one thing and breaking six more things.
I'm not a game programmer, but I did script numerous websites, including the online community site with tons of info from my game. Latest addition is a visual family tree, which took one night to get up. When adding new stuff to any script, I'm used to new problems being caused. But I also know that most such problems are fixed quite easily - it just require that I *start* searching for the problem coding, and that I take the time to try fixing it. It might take 15 minutes or a full day, but will never solve itself unless I get started at the process. When knowing a script well, most tech conflicts are found and solved in "no time". I really don't understand how EA takes years to fix bugs, unless they actually *never* got the task started.
Exactly. You cannot fix something unless you try. The people responsible for testing the patches and packs before release, should be using ALL the packs during testing rather than just the base game and the latest pack/patch. We have what now?....36 packs for Sims4 along with close to a hundred patches/updates on top of that? I have to wonder how much more content this game engine can handle if the devs are unable to create new packs without bugs and glitches hitting us from every direction; and when they are unable to find the source of these bugs after years of looking for a way to permanently fix those bugs. They created this game. Some have been with it since it was just an idea on a storyboard. How can they not know, or see, their creation is in a very fragile state right now? When a simple pre-pack patch is capable of causing so many issues, it doesn't take a crystal ball to see a dark cloud hovering over Sims4's horizon. That may sound a bit dramatic, but just think about everything that has happened since EL was released, and what we are seeing and experiencing with this latest patch. Two days from now JtB will go live. After seeing what the devs have done to the game with that patch, what do you think is going to happen once JtB is added to your game? And I am not trying to sway anyone from buying it. I am simply tired of seeing all the new bug reports and the disappointment expressed by players when new packs don't measure up to the hype created by the gurus.
I just want to play my game without looking for solutions to problems not of my making. I didn't create it, I purchased it. It is not my responsibility to fix what the devs broke. The only thing left to do is to stop buying new packs and wait for Sims4 to end so I won't be forced to update/patch every few weeks. The teams don't seem to be listening to us, the game is buggy as heck, and the list of missing features grows a little more every day. I guess the final straw was the way the sixth anniversary was ignored. When the teams that created Sims4 can't raise a bit of excitement over the fact it reached six years old, I view that as an indication of their personal boredom with the game. And if the devs, teams and Maxis are bored with Sims4, and it took a Star Wars themed pack to raise their excitement level, what does that say about the features the players have been asking for? It seems the features we would like to see expanded upon or added, are just too boring to merit their consideration.
