Many, many times I encounter people that I politely try to convince to stop pre-ordering games and explain why they're bad for both the consumers and the industry, only to have them get upset and throw fits about how it's their money and they can do whatever they want with it.
Everything we buy has an impact on the industry, so when you start pre-ordering EA games (did I mention this is EA) it only causes major negative effects on the industry (such as making releasing unfinished games to be patched later or chopping out content for pre-order incentives) in exchange for minor benefits (such as exclusive DLC or early access to the game/DLC), which some people take issue with.
