what's with moving and money??
i've never seen anyone complain about the moving feature in this game, which is interesting, considering that it's confusing and frustrating. the part that's the most confusing and frustrating has to be the way funds are handled. i just don't understand it
when a sim moves out they get some extra money, right? seems logical enough, but i can't wrap my head around the system they use for this
anecdote time: i wanted my sims to move into a house i made in Willow Creek. it was a young adult and her father. they had roughly 10,000 simoleons. the house was 24,000 simoleons. i figured they'd get enough extra simoleons (another 20,000 to be exact) so that they could afford their house. NOPE. they got another 1,000, which makes NO sense. what kind of house is 11,000 simoleons besides a dinky little one-sim cottage? confused, i lowered their money with cheats to see if they'd end up with an extra 20,000 at some point (because i've seen that happen before and was convinced that that was how all moving out worked in the game) and still no. i depleted their funds from 10,000 to 4,000 but they still only received 1,000 extra. 5,000 simoleons! that's how much money my sims were expected to buy a house with. makes no sense. isn't the game supposed to give more money than that?
why on earth would they only give this much? what's the system supposed to be? how does the game decide how much money to give to a household when they move?
of course later i realised i could use the "sell furniture" option to get my sims to afford the house, but that's not the point. the point is that the way funds are handled during the process of moving is extremely unclear and confusing
thoughts? does anyone else struggle with moving too?
