- Seera10246 years agoSeasoned AceSpin off game? Sure. Go for it.
Main series? As long as there's a single player mode and there's NOTHING that has to be unlocked by playing the multiplayer side, then sure. But if I have to play the multiplayer to unlock things or download a mod to do it for me, then no.
Plus how would you handle the situation where Simmer A and Simmer B have their Sims get together, buy a house together, and have a single kid. Simmer A and Simmer B then have a falling out and no longer want to play together. Who gets the kid? Who gets the house? How do the funds get split?
How would you handle situations where one player suddenly stops coming on but their Sims are married to Sims of other players? How long do they have to be in limbo before they can petition to have their Sims divorced and get control of kids?
How would you feel if the above happened to you because you got into a bad car wreck and obviously couldn't warn about that and then when you return at least a few months later you've lost your Sims' spouses, kids, houses and basically have to start over? "Babykittyjade;c-17417468" wrote:

When are you guys going to let players join each others game? Like play with other players?...... I think that would be awesome!
No. I'm sorry. But I don't want to see you in my game ?????
I feel the same about you. But then I'm sure if you were in my game, I could either close it to friends, go offline or simply kick you from it. I mean, that's how that would probably work.
Unless you honestly thought otherwise.

To the rest of the replies, I can't quite grasp how you're entirely opposed to multiplayer, something to potentially add more hours to the game to those of us with friends, yet you're fine with watered-down packs and partially-working if not broken basic features.- Seera10246 years agoSeasoned Ace

And yet some of us don't want multiplayer and aren't fine with the quality of the EP's and SP's coming out. I've only ever bought one pack when it wasn't on sale (vampires and that was because that pack was done well and for how well toddlers were since they came out at about the same time) and they have to be at least 50% off because that's what I feel they are worth. I don't have all of the packs either and have chosen to not buy any until I decide I want to play again and then only if they're on sale for 50% or more. Though My Pet Stuff would have to be like 75% or more off for me to even consider it since it's got a lot of recolors.
Just because I don't want it doesn't mean I would be unhappy if they added it for Sims 5 provided they did it and single player well and didn't lock anything for single player play behind that mode. - hestiah236 years agoSeasoned Ace

@charlesberg No, I am not fine with it and no, I will not allow you to generalize myself within that group of people. Even though there are unfortunately in fact a group of players who enable The Sims Studio to continue with it. I am not them. :|
Adding multiplayer or keeping it single player (as it should be) doesn’t necessarily define “added hours of gameplay”. In defense of The Sims 3, The Sims 2, The Sims 1, The Elder Scrolls series, The Witcher and many more successful single-player games out there. - MidnightAura866 years agoSeasoned AceHell no.
The very last thing this franchise needs is multi-player. From a safety perspective it’s a big no no, not to mention if it were a multiplayer you most likely wouldn’t have mods or cc, micro transactions would be introduced and history has shown us that EA are not to be trusted making this sort of thing. Sim city 2013 anyone? The sims online?
There are plenty of games that work well as a single player. Not every game has to be multi player. "charlesberg;c-17418458" wrote:

You seem to think people mean it personally, “I don’t want you in my game”. It’s not, I don’t want anybody in my game. Including the simmers I befriended over the years here. I love to see what their experiences are in the games, I love it when they share their stories or screenshots, that aspect has always been a valuable addition to enjoying my own game. But not?? In?? My?? Game??
Actually, your reaction is exactly what would happen. You think people mean something, it displeases you, and wham, immediately there’s talk of kicking someone out and ‘close it’. On Twitter I feel an atmosphere of simmers feeling left out already as it is, they feel they’re not part of the community because they don’t get as much likes as others, not enough followers. Imagine that would follow them in their games. I’ve been around here long enough to know there’s some serious bullying within this community (I could give you actual examples of that). The phrasing “those of us with friends” has a stingy undertone. It’s the way the popular kids tell the not so popular kids they don’t matter in the playground. As a parent, all my alarm bells go off at this point. You point out exactly why I’d hate it. Sims would, even more than it is now, become a game where you have to please others to be able to enjoy it all. Am I exaggerating? On Twitter I saw someone regretting the fact new simmers got thousands of followers in a flash because they did give aways (which they apparently can’t afford). That apparently has become highly important.
No, we’re actually not fine with watered-down packs and partially-working if not broken basic features. That’s another thing we fear. That a focus on multiplayer will mean the offline single player version will suffer. That’s exactly why we want them to focus on single player from the get go this time around.- dianed4856 years agoSeasoned AceNo. It would make me uncomfortable. Then you lose control over what you want your own game to be.
Also I think offline multi-player with your family or friends could be fine, but online multi player could be dangerous and potentially open the door to creeps, bullying, crooks, harassment... - Peapod796 years agoSeasoned Ace

This is the perfect answer here, IMO. "Not every game has to be multi player".
The sims works well as is, it sells well. Do they really want to mess with that? Well apparently yes, and they haven't learned from past online failures (and yes, Sims online was a fail, and simport in TS3 was a fail).
A good number of people have already listed reasons why they shouldn't do this. I agree with all of them. That said, however, I do feel like the online is coming sooner rather than later so to the OP: you might just get your wish.
It's not that I don't like online games. I play a few and I enjoy them. Would sims lend itself well to this format? A sandbox that anyone can play in and do as they please? Not so much.
So many people didn't want story progression because they didn't want the game itself to interfere with their game... yeah... so online and letting other people interfere is a good idea?! I can't even... If they won't allow story progression or even a dang toggle for it... but they want to add online? It breaks my brain to try to even understand this reasoning. - From what I gather on the forums I think that having a multi player Sims game would only appeal to a small number of Simmers
- ZeeGee16 years agoSeasoned AceNO! I want an open world sandbox that allows creativity, not questing or playing with other simmers. Sims is not your typical game and most of us are not your typical gamers. Making it MMO would be losing the essence of what makes sims amazing.
If you want to play with other simmers, share your game save with them and play back and forth.
