Where should I put my asylum?

I was thinking about doing something similar (great minds think alike!) but unfortunately I don't think it's possible to stop sims spawning in community lots. I've had sims spawn randomly in the communal areas of Forgotten Hollow when they don't live there. Just a few days ago one of my Windenburg sims showed up in Forgotten Hollow.

The closest thing I can think of is how Strangerville's possessed sims aren't supposed to spawn in other areas so you MIGHT be able to get away with it in that world if you own the pack, but I haven't used it very much yet so I can't be sure.

I think a mod is probably your best bet.

with MC you make sims you don't want to be on lots leave (but you keep having to do it a lot) since I have 2 people -I had 3) who I didn't want to be travelling to other lots because they're serving LONG prison sentences

I'm going to test out whether Strangerville is a suitable place for an asylum. Mostly because I want to do something in the game but not play one of my main families, so I can spend some time creating a few inmates and someone to look after them.

     

I'd very much like to see MCCC controls expanded a bit to allow greater control over gameplay aspects than currently, and i'd also like to see exact features being enabed and disabled as they are designed, rather than it only working part of the time.

you switch off autonous woowhoo for your household, and some how it finds a way to trigger woowho while you are focused on another character in the same household.
Same with Marriages, you got a played household and you have all the right settings to prevent it, and yet your played sims get married off anyway.

having expanded control would be great, especially for roleplaying purposes. so for example an option appears in sim flags, one of those options is they can not randonly spawn in game world, or they can not marry or they can not woowho, at least not until you remove the flag and let it happen. It would be so much bette having everything the way you want it.

I repurposed one of the houses in Strangerville. I have created one Matron to run the place, and 3 inmates, all with the erratic trait. Here they are taking a nap. I thought putting them in simple white gowns would make them stick out like a sore thumb if they are walking around town. The matron is wearing a maid's cc outfit and a headdress from City Living so I can easily pick her out from all the other female sims wearing the maid's outfit.

I locked all doors and gates so that only the Matron can get out, but who knows whether it will make a difference to whether or not I catch the inmates walking around. I also gave the lot the Private Dwelling trait to deter visitors. I haven't used Strangerville at all in this save, except for deleting a few houses and changing others to Generic to stop the game spawning residents so I'm hoping that will help as well.

@Mariefoxprice83 Your asylum is so cool! Can't wait to see more. I'm really curious how 3 erratics are going to do in a house together. Should be interesting!!

Thanks. I was tempted to add more residents but in the end laziness won out. I've got some other households I want to play first, and I can see if the bedlamites walk around communal lots or the areas outside sim houses, but it's likely that I will play them further into the rotation.

they stay in FH only if they are vampires... as far as I know, vampires walkbies are only allowed outside at night.

Okay, you guys. I think what I'll do is use Zerbu's mod to change a residential area to a destination area and use Forgotten Hollow for my 1800s asylum, prison, and orphanage because the atomosphere there is perfect for these depressing places.
