- Babykittyjade6 years agoSeasoned AceRealm of magic wasn't an option because it's a game pack ? I think ALL the expansions were worth it.
- I was really disappointed for a lot of reasons. Although, Get To Work is a fusion of some of the best packs from SIms 2 and 3, it doesn't have half of the content we had in those two. Also, one of the few features (the photography) was invalidated by Moschino SP in 2019. I used to love playing active careers in Sims 3, but in Sims 4 its really uncomfortable to be forced to play one sim from the household while the others are left to get old in the corner of the screen. I'm not sure, maybe active careers only work in open world environment, but Sims 4 could have added a feature to load two lots at the same time, switching screens to be able to move without loading screens or something like that.
02. Island Living
Lacks ocean life, scuba diving animations, underwater lots and the biggest career gets too repetitive over time. A lot of removed features that had nothing to replace them, leaving a feel that I was playing game packs.
03. Cats & Dogs
Suffers from the same problem as Island Living. A long list of removed features from previous versions of the pack, but nothing to replace them and fill the EP.
04. City Living
It has a really interesting concept, but removes important features of cool apartment packs, a trend started in Sims 3's Late Night. In Sims 2 we could build apartments and set different households in the same lot, we had functional elevators... It all felt more customizable than the shells forced on uns in City Living, just for the sake of a good looking world environment.
05. Get Famous
The packs start to get better at this rank position. Get Famous isn't bad, but it could'vew been better. The world is a dissapointment. For a "big city" theme, it is the smallest in the game. Also, I'd rather have a Music career path instead of the Influencer career path. (The world name really frustrates me, cuz I'm a latin-language speaker and Del Sol Valley doesn't sound grammatically correct, Valley Del Sol makes more sense and it's more pleasing to read).
06. Get Together
I loooooove Windenburg, and I love the Club system, but its just that. There's not much to the EP, and it feels like a glorified Game Pack.
07. Seasons
Seasons is almost perfect. The lack of snow depht, more summer related (probably because they wanted us to buy Island Living) and a lot of reused objects from previous packs removes a lot of points for me.
08. Discover University
DU has only been placed in this rank because I feel like I haven't explored much of it. I dislike that there's no professor active career/active classes, but I think it would be annoying to play like the ones form GTW. The only problem I have so far is actually the world. I don't like that its only one. They should've made two, one for each university, one for Willow Creek and one for Oasis Springs. A different environment is a must in this type of pack. Playing the same Uni in Sims 3 for 65151818717 times got really annoying, when in Sims 2 I didn't suffer from this problem. Also, why foxbury has a ocean theme?! Like... Its not even a costal world, and the name of the uni implies that it was a Fox habitat at some point... Why no Fox mascot?! Like... subverted expectation doesn't work like that, cuz it sounds dumb. - Actually it's Seasons, the one EP I do not own. However, my loathing for Seasons stems from my controlling playstyle, so is more of a personal preferrence.
I voted DU, because from a gameplay perspective attending university offers no benefit. By the time the sim is through, another sim who started at the bottom of the career will be at about the same level. The university sim will outpace the other's earnings, but then again, money isn't an issue in this game. And from a roleplay perspective there isn't anything about university that the club system and a little imagination could not achieve just as well (or better). That leaves bikes, a soccer ball, pingpong table and two swimable lakes as the real features, what is not much for an EP. - SEREFRAS6 years agoLegendIt brought those weird random tourist outfits & overlapped merged festivals & the city isn't as great as in Sims 3 Bridgeport.
However, the CAS & Objects are good. - keenow6 years agoRising AceI don't have Discover University or Island Living, so I can't speak to those, but Get Famous -the idea of adding celebrities into the game -was an idea I was really excited about including, but it fell a bit flat of what I wanted.
- There were no bands or music-related fame. There's a mixing table and you can get "record deals". Which, the music mixing table isn't all that fun to watch or use, and the 'record deals' is just playing phone tag with pop-up menus, so I don't really count it.
- The actor career has its moments, but gets repetitive quickly.
- The process of actually getting famous is more troublesome and annoying than endearing. There are things I like about the perk-level up menu, but most of the enjoyable perks come via a skilltree which forces you to select every one in the line below it, which some of those perks can be exceptionally annoying to deal with and are more hindrances than rewards (like the celebrity potions)
- Perma-glitching into the celebrity slow-walk made the game nearly unplayable. *This issue may have been fixed by now. I'm too afraid to let my sims get to max celeb again to find out. :grimace:
- I like the 'idea' of gaining random fame quirks, but some are just downright unpleasant to end up with.
- The Build/Buy mode is hit or miss. I know they were intentionally made as "over the top", but it's difficult to find any practical use for many of the items, so it ultimately felt like a waste of money in that department.
It wasn't all bad. I thought the paparazzi behaved much like I'd expect and want them to. The streaming drones were fun and becoming famous via online-celebrity was a nice touch. I don't think it was awful, but nor was it my favorite. If you were buying them all, I'd suggest it only on a discount. - There were no bands or music-related fame. - Scobren6 years agoLegendCity Living on its own isn't worth it. Need University with it to make it feel like a whole EP honestly with the room mates and everything. Also the fashion is very Americanized version of culture which I think other packs and patches represented culture a lot better in them and for a wider variety of ages.
- Cats and dogs. Rarely play with vet career, hate having to take care of sick animals all the time, and I no longer play with cats/dogs. I love Brindleton Bay, though.
- OneAdorkableGirl6 years agoNew AceI've always tried to find something that I enjoy about each pack and something that I'd use over and over again and find that, or those features to be worth it. However, I'm going with City Living because, to this day, not one of my Sims has lived in an Apartment. I was disappointed by the limitations. I was looking forward to the idea that if we got apartments some day, we'd be allowed to create some nice apartments in any of the worlds. Unfortunately, most content is tied to the worlds they come with.Spoiler
Stray Cats and Dogs don't roam other worlds...
(Vampires actually do roam outside of Forgotten Hollow; which is surprising, but I suppose.. that's how they're able to visit/or invade your house), but... strays can't roam other worlds, so my other Sims have a chance to adopt? It's a good thing I like living in Brindleton Bay. :) .. obviously, I know that I can call to adopt, or even visit Brindleton bay and see a stray and probably could befriend it in hopes to adopt(?), I actually haven't tried that yet..)
The festivals were recycled content, which made me sad, because I was hoping for festivals like Sims 3, and maybe this time, they'd be more in-depth and we'd have a variety of little activities to experience..
The things I like about the City Living pack: CAS, Build/buy, Singing Skill, Karaoke, the lot traits, being able to give Sims a key (did they patch that in with the City Living Patch thingy?), collecting the snow globes, the interactive careers/protesting and the new gaming system that allows four Sims to play. I feel with all that.. perhaps that could have been a Game Pack, hopefully they'll do a City Living pack better for Sims 5. - Daephene16 years agoSeasoned AceI may change my mind after I actually try out the veterinarian career. But for right now, this is the pack I use the least. The pet CAS is nice, but they don't end up doing much but creating more chores for my sims. I miss pet careers that gave you a reason to train them, and I miss being able to train them to be bad as well as good, to create different types of pet/owner relationships (in sims2, I never played 3 so I don't know what they were like there).
- Frn07316 years agoSeasoned Acemisread it. Get together is actually my favourite.
I should have said get famous.
