When I first heard of this pack I was pretty upset, the trailer made it even worse. However after watching the livestream I am slowly leaning more towards it. However one thing that has actually annoyed me so much is the fact that new traits are basically things to help your sim with skills and not personality based anymore. Why can we not get more personality based traits? Secondly why do we keep getting aspirations that are tutorials for a new pack? It's extremely annoying and feels very lazy. Aspirations should be more interesting. Or if they decide to keep going down this route why not create lifetime wishes, the same as TS3 so that everyone can be pleased? Lifetime wishes would give us an end goal. At this point the aspirations may as well be whims..

I have to totally agree on that. All the traits that come with packs seem to be just ways to enhance skill development and the aspirations are just step by step instructions on how to experience the pack. Personally I never use the aspirations from the packs and I wish they actually made some that have a purpose, seem believable as an actual wish a Sim wants to fulfill. I don't know why they are doing this since a lot of personality traits came with the base game and there are basically a million things they could do. If the Sims 4 is lacking something it is definitely Sims with personalities. Hopefully this will change with Sims 5

I'm probably in the minority but I actually enjoy the guided nature of aspirations. I have one sim completing them all.

I just downloaded animal crossing aspiration it is million times better than Maxis aspirations.

Why are aspirations basically tutorials? And where's the personality in traits?

I don't think completing an aspiration leads to no replayabilty. At least not for me. Take the Best Selling Author aspiration. Does the fact that you've created the aspiration mean you'll no longer continue to write books? Does completing 5 masterpieces in the Painting aspiration mean you'll no longer paint? And my favorite, The Culinary aspiration. My sim cooked the required 3 gourmet dishes at a single event yet she still continued to learn and prepare gourmet meals. She's also a spellcaster, having completed that aspiration, and she continues to cast spells and create potions.

The "base game" aspirations did not walk you through the entire base game. The aspirations in the packs since City Living have just walked you through the entire pack. There is a difference.
