- How many would you want?
- (Slightly off topic) I quite like the story feature. I actually used it for the first time a couple of months ago and it's given me some more diverse sims, using traits I don't normally use. <3 It's been great. So it might not have been asked for but it's definitely been useful, at least to me!
I don't really mind three trait slots. My sims are usually a pretty diverse bunch anyway and the traits in game suit my needs. If I want extra traits, I'll download some (or make them). For me, three slots has been about right. I'm actually pleased they went for the Story feature instead; it's pushed me to use traits and careers I probably would have ignored <3 - I enjoy the story creation myself from time to time for your second line.
For the first and the traits themselves, I have several sims with 10+ traits, but it's more to flesh them out to my liking, more than something that would give me game advantages. They're not very different than 3 traits sims, so my view on that is 'because that wouldn't fundamentaly change them'. - You can add more with cheats but I suppose there has to be a "limit" somewhere. I quite liked the sims 3 way of doing it where you choose 5 and it suggests aspirations based on that.

We’re almost 6 years into The Sims 4 and still only have 3 traits to choose from?
They spent time creating that weak story mode in CAS that nobody asked for, why can’t they add a few more trait slots? Surely its simpler.
I already forgot we had the option of the story mode. I don't mind that we have three traits, I think it's Ok as main behaviour patterns for the sims, but I wish that they would be more refined, like the vegan trait sims would absolutely refuse to eat meat instead of feeling nauseous. Also, they should not have the option to cook meat based dishes. I wouldn't say no to more traits, if they can make them interesting, but I would like if they expand on sims personalities through other options like define likes, dislikes, colour and food preferences, hobbies, favourite season, favourite restaurant, etc. At the bar there is the option for the sims to order their favorite drink but it's just a random drink. I think it would be nice if sims could have the option to define their favourite drink, or if they prefer to drink only fruit based cocktails and no alcoholic ones. - I never really understood why they went from 5 to 3 trait slots, but it doesn't bother me that much. However, a change is always welcome, maybe 5 traits for YAs, adults and elders, 4 for teens, 3 for children and 2 for toddlers.
As for the story feature for cas, I am not impressed. Some of the traits resulting from it don't fit the corresponding answers at all. I never really use it. - kurimisarang6 years agoSeasoned AceMore trait slots won't change the real problem, which is that traits don't do much in the first place.
- Lucy_Henley6 years agoSeasoned AceI’ve used the story thing once. For the first Sim I used it with, it was ok. The rest, not so much. I often seem to get the Squeamish trait, perhaps because the Sims I create aren’t fond of bugs?
I’m not too bothered by the number of traits. You technically get four traits, the three you select and the one that comes with the lifetime aspiration you select. Then you can get bonus traits, particularly if you raise a Sim from birth all the way to adulthood and gain bonus traits like Happy Toddler/Top Notch Toddler, the bonus ones from completing the childhood aspirations etc. I played one save on Long lifespan where I managed to get a child to complete all four childhood aspirations, having previously maximised the toddler skills, so when she aged into a teen she had six traits already. - Simmerville6 years agoLegendYou can have way more traits than 3. If you have Parenthood EP sims get additional traits added depending on how well they were raised. You can also spend whims award points to buy some more traits. Some traits doesn't really make much difference except for a few very specific situations, but some actually give new menu options. I like how "Good manners" allow your sim to shake hands when greeting someone (hate the glow while doing so, though)

This is something I rather appreciate about The Sims 4. I didn't think that the traits were a satisfactory replacement for the personality matrix in The Sims 2. At least in The Sims 4 there are only three and they aren't very powerful, which gets them out of my way.
