- It seems a bit mean (and etiquetially wrong) that the sims have to ask for their gifts! Santa should just leave them on the floor - one gift per sim of any age
- Joanne_Snow7 years agoLegendCharmer tods wont have this problem, but all those that have the interaction "talk with stranger" will need to be talking to father winter for a bit first before they are able to ask for a present. Still I think so far in my game they've always gotten presents.
- I'm not sure what the issue was. He talked with Father Winter, has a maxed out language/communication skill, and he got to ask for a gift, then father winter laughed like he was going to give the gift then he didn't give one and the option to get one went away like he'd had his turn but the objective didn't update and he never got a gift. Poor little guy had a terrible Wintersday/Christmas and I don't know how to fix it. I will test your theory too @SimTrippy and see if my charmer tots will get the gifts or not. Maybe my independent tot was just too...independent to feel Father W's love.

I wonder if it's to do with the level of communication skill the toddler has. Just a thought. :)
Maybe - they perhaps need to max their language skills - that might help.
I think they can talk at Level 4 -- before that they just babble. Traits may have an impact too -- many of the traits give the Stranger Danger moodlet when a toddler is around unknown Sims (I know Charmer doesn't). Since Sims have to ask for a present, the combination of the two might make it difficult to talk to Father Winter.- bookmaster3257 years agoSeasoned Ace

Close...it's level 3. And yes, to the rest. "duhboy2u2;c-16810195" wrote:

Aww man - that is just too sad. Poor little tyke. I'm getting totally bummed out here.- I'm not sure, but was there some sort of hotfix for this? Because now when my tots ask for a gift, even if the objective doesn't update they get a successful holiday completion. Its not giving them a gift still, but at least they don't get the sad moodlet anymore :)
- I just hit Winterfest with my toddler triplets and not one got a gift from him. My girls were very sad. They all have the Angelic trait (no fool I) but only level 2 of communication and FW kept having the shouting mouth thought bubble and it confused me at first. Then I realized that their comm skill wasn't quite high enough and he couldn't understand them but at the same time, he's FW. What else would a toddler be asking for? That's foolishness, he should automatically give any toddler who interacts with him a gift, and only one per. I had to wake my poor little girls up just to be ignored by FW and get a Stranger Danger moodlet to boot. Very sad. ?
- Yeah this still seems to be really broken to me.
I just did a very frustrating full-house Winterfest, and I finally figured out that they had to Talk to Stranger first, or else Ask for Present wouldn't do anything at all, and then they still had to had to Ask for Present several times, and then he would eventually give them a gift and I'd see a notification of what it was, but it still wouldn't register for their holiday requirements.
I tried reloading and doing it as perfectly and thoroughly as possible, asking as many times as they were allowed before he disappeared, but it never actually gave them the checkmark on their holiday requirements.
Seems really, really broken.
Even if some of it is on purpose, it really doesn't work the way anyone would intuitively expect it to, which is a bad player experience.
Father winter should be delivering gifts to the children and already know them, know everything about them even, that's part of the lore. He shouldn't be a stranger to them, and they shouldn't be unknown to him. He knows if you are sleeping, he knows if you're awake, he knows if you've been bad or good, so be good for goodness' sake! (etc.)
Broken. Bad experience, both for them and for me. - I had to have my toddler ask five whole times before old man Frost finally forked over the goods, and even then I wasn't sure if the problem was that the toddler and FW hadn't engaged in conversation proper yet or if it was the sitting on the couch animations, since it seemed to work once I made them both stand up and then had the toddler ask for a present. Pretty annoying, but at least she got her present (at like 1:58 too, a few minutes before Winterfest ended, lol).
