Will it be "fated mate" instead of an attraction system?

Not sure if "fated mate" comes with the werewolf pack or with the pre-pack-patch. It sounds like a system where each sim has a "perfect match" chosen by the game, and that I assume we must search a while to find. And I don't know if this is restricted to werewolves or if it will be a thing with all kinds of sims.

I sort of like the idea, although finding it hard to compare two features that I never tested, LOL.

How about you - do you think the "fated mate" will replace the possible attraction system? Could it work?

Yeah, it seems pretty limited. Honestly, I hate the RNG of a randomly decided "fated" role. I wish it had triggers. If so, it could have easily been applied to more than werewolf on werewolf.

So much for vampire Juliet and werewolf Romeo.

In any novel, movie, TV show about V's and W's, have you ever read or seen those two species hook up?

Yes, just check the fantasy romance book shelves. Tons of werewolf vampire hook ups

Edit: Hailey and Elijah from the Originals. Tyler and Caroline from Vampire Diaries (to name more popular TV examples)

Honestly, I have mixed feelings on the fated mate system. On one hand, the random pickings for a sim's soulmate is a really interesting concept for gameplay/story possibilities (soooo much drama potential) but...its current state is very limiting.

I'd like the option to extend to all life states + a proper opt out of the system entirely because aside for those who want to play as aces/aros this really cramps the play style of polyamorous romances.

I 100% understand why they gave it exclusively to werewolves and given the dogmatic (heh) nature of how the system works it's almost necessary cause otherwise it would be way too invasive and ruin established gameplay/play files.

I can settle for using mods to allow fated mates for other lifestates. But they really do need a proper "opt out" of the system for the game. Ideally, this shouldve been something you directly trigger (like a specific item/person/location to interact with to engage in the system itself) and not just any old flirting dialogue will trigger it.

Especially with Eco Living and the Free Love NAPs and how rampantly frisky sims are in general + the social system being so messy it is far too easy to trigger it when you don't want it. It's too difficult to romance another occult as a werewolf as you risk finding an unwanted fated mate far too easy. If you want to play as a werewolf you have to settle for the fated mate + forced monogamy.

The concept is fun and I don't want them to get rid of it. But it does feel invasive and needs more tuning.
  • I haven't had my werewolf flirt with other wolves yet -- she's still trying to woo her teen crush. That young lady isn't a werewolf, so far hates werewolves, and also will turn out to be straight. But Laila hasn't given up on her yet.... and there don't seem to be any other teen werewolves around. So it will be a while before any wolf-to-wolf flirting happens.

From the sound of things though, it seems like the game rolls a chance of fated mate with every single romantic interaction? As opposed to rolling, say, once per sim? I don't know, I feel both ways about it... on the one hand it seems like it is too easy as you're more or less guaranteed to be fated to someone if you spam romantic interactions. But on the other hand many players like to pair up particular sims rather than having the game surprise them. What's more invasive, having a fated mate too easily assigned, or being prevented from ever getting the fated mate the player wants?

From what I hear, it's a pretty high/solid chance from your first flirty interactions (not guaranteed obv but if it's RNG by the action itself than all you need to do is spam romance actions until you get it). This is to allow people to easily pair up folks they want as fated mates.

The problem is that it seems to be not solely player driven consequence/result and is sometimes triggered by NPCs flirting with playable sims (or playable sims autonomously flirting because of nice decor).

Personally, Id rather it be strictly player-initiated even if it's too easy. People can mod the difficulty if they want something more engaging/more RNG.

Alternatively, we could be given a prompt choice. Like "Whenever Person A looks at you, your skin begins to flush and you feel funny inside. Could they be your fated mate?" And you have the choice between "Yes, time to embrace fate!" Or "No, its just gas."

And to not make it so easy, you could have a timer between each trigger prompt so it's not THAT easy to get the Fated mate you want, but its also not thrust upon you and there is some level of choice.

    I like both those options @BlueR0se .
