Working Multiple Jobs (also, adult jobs for teens!)

Neat little cheat I just discovered...

Entering the cheat “careers.add_career ” (no quotes, no brackets) gives the active Sim a job in the specified career. Okay, so that’s a known cheat, but what I DIDN’T know until just now was that it’s actually possible to give your Sim multiple jobs this way - it doesn’t force them to leave their current job if they have one.

So yeah, it’s totally possible to have your Sims work multiple jobs without even needing a mod for it. (As a disclaimer, I have no idea what happens if job schedules overlap. I haven’t tested it.)

This cheat ALSO ignores age restrictions on careers, so it’s possible to give adult jobs to teens and vice versa. (If you’re going to do that, you should probably also use “careers.remove_career highschool”).

So there’s that. Have your YA Sim who’s just starting out get a second job to help them afford a home big enough for the large family they want to have someday. Have your teen who’s failing school drop out and get a job instead. Have your adult Sim who’s been working all their life switch to part-time work now that money’s hardly a concern anymore. Go wild.

EDIT: Sending teens to work in an adult career doesn’t seem possible without mods, as far as I can tell. They just don’t go even if you try to make them. They CAN work from home in the CL careers without issue, though. Not sure if GTW careers work since I haven’t tested those.
  • I just tried this now and I don't know if they changed it in an update or if I chose conflicting careers, (one is also a custom career so that could be a factor) but it just made me quit my first job for the new one. :/
  • Hi, i tried this but it doesn't work? like this ? careers.add_careerpainter ? or careers.add_career painter ? capitol letter? i tried many ways.

    Please help!!!

    Thanks!

    :)

    Set: "Testingcheats on" first.
Select the sim you wish to cheat with.
Bring up the cheat console and type in "Careers.add_career Painter".
Your sim should have the painter career.
You can go one further and promote your sim up the ladder by typing out "Careers.promote Painter".
Go back into the cheat console, press the up key to bring up the previous cheat used and promote as much as you can (doesn't work if you closed the console at any point between and so you are left to type it all out again).

So if you had a job in writing and became creator of worlds, you only work Tuesdays and Saturdays, so if you wanted you can find another job to fill in some of the gaps and make 3k per day working 5 days a week, 15k per week. So if you did it with a husband and his wife, you could possibly end up 30k per week.

if you continued to gain promotions even after level 10, you gain a small increase on wages earned, an extra §10 p/h.

    Edit: Slight miscalculation in §.
