.package files?

What program to use if/when one wants to read .package files?
What program TS4 uses?
  • If you want to open .package files the best program for that is Sims 4 Studio. It is frequently updated and has a good support forum. You can download Sims 4 Studio HERE. The support section for Studio is HERE. :)
  • Try both s4pe (beta version) and Sims 4 Studio and see what you prefer, they're both written by reliable teams.

What everyone has said so far only applies if YOU want to literally open the package files to see what is inside of them and or edit them.

If you just want the game to be able to read them, ignore what everyone else has said thus far, as it does not matter. The game will read it just because it's a .package file, the game does not use an external program to read .package files. By default, there is actually no program associated with opening .package files, because they do not get "opened." The game reads them automatically when it starts up. :)
  • For packages in general, s4pe. The latest release is here, the most recent beta is here.

If you can be more specific what kind of package you want to edit, there are more specialised tools as well for different tasks.

  • Oh that. You can change that back via rightclick > Properties on a package -- details vary depending on which version of Windows you have there, but there should be a tickybox along the lines of "Open all such files with the selected program".

Game not working is most probably a different issue though.
