Are you using the (newish 1st July) inventory tags at all to sort your sims inventory? I updated MC Command Centre and would look and have stuff in the fridge and then I'd come back from travelling and look at the fridge again and it would be empty causing me to freak out. I'd save and quit the game and go back into a an earlier save and the "stuff" appeared again. As I was on the latest version of MC Command centre I wasn't sure why the bug deleting my inventory was occurring.
Apparently I had changed the inventory tag while I was out travelling to set it to favourite and clicked on the fridge when I came back from travelling, which then made it appear empty so I would click on every other storage box to discover it was empty (which it was showing as empty because I still had the tag as favourite) - freak out - reload an old save and keep playing from there as the stuff had returned.....so before blaming mods (like I did) make sure if you are using the new inventory feature in any capacity in your sims inventory that all the tags have been removed.....
Thought I would share because I feel like a fool not understanding until yesterday that the new inventory feature is affecting storage objects - I guess because the new sorting tags don't APPEAR on the storage boxes/fridges I just never paid attention to how I was supposed to sort things by using this new feature they launched. (Like okay you gave me patch notes when you launched this feature but it still doesn't explain why I can't sort on the fridge itself - my sims inventory is affecting the sorting of the fridge now? Not the object itself????)
Also if you have an apple as a favourite and have apples in the fridge the game does not SHOW the apples in the fridge, so my fridge under the favourite sorting option has NOTHING IN IT.
Anyway, all my own experiences with this "inventory glitch" are user error as I didn't realise the new inventory feature blanks out the fridge if you change the settings in your sims inventory to favourite which is basically the only view I've been using now apart from the default show everything. Found out yesterday that I still had stuff in the fridge when I clicked on another sim instead of the one that I travelled with....realised why I was out with my main sim that I'd changed the main sim's inventory to favourite and kept it there while the other sim had the default view and could view all items in the fridge...
Yeah, so that's my story - been cursing out this "bug" for about two/three weeks now....turns out it's my own fault. Was frustrated that the blame was on MC Command Centre but I had the updated version.... so my issue is this base game update launched a few months ago and it didn't really click with me at the time how this would impact my gameplay.
The only reason I even started using favourites was I saw the sims team announce the inventory bug, took EVERYTHING out of my sims storage inventories before updating the game and now began using the new inventory feature "favorites" as I haven't really played using it before but my sim had everything in her inventory so I favourited something to find it. Would click the fridge and it shows as empty. Go to a previous save and play with items returned to storage boxes/fridge.
So my suggestion to anyone reading this - before concluding that your inventory is empty and you are experiencing this bug - check that all the tags are removed from the sims inventory first.
Thought I would share my experience because I was completely frustrated at the "update your mods" I was seeing everywhere because I did update them. Only to find out my "bug" is really with the base game update changing how inventories work and I didn't understand how it works at all.
So I don't think I experienced this bug, and if other's on here are looking at their inventories which are blanking out and they don't have tags selected hopefully the sims team can narrow down what is causing your issues.
If there is anyone else like me out there that has started using the tag system and didn't realise this affects the storage objects - remove the tags! Hopefully your stuff reappears and is just "hidden" from your view.
(Though I do think the apple not being a favourite in the fridge is a bug because I favourited the apple and it doesn't show in the fridge at all - there are 99 apples in that fridge and 1 in the sims inventory favourited - it should show up in my opinion - then I wouldn't freak out when the fridge is showing empty as under favourites it should show the favourited apples as the only thing in the fridge).
