all glass in doors hazy/snowy/correlated look after update

So, i just updated my game and added the for rent pack - but now when i am building, the doors which contain glass look like they have been snowed on, you can't see through them - completely correlated, only the doors from island living lack this problem. I have not tried the windows yet as i don't want to see the new windows with such a bug!! Help - anyone else experiencing this, or is it just me? And what can i do about it? I already clicked repair in the EA app, didnt work.

    @Nadjasigourney  What lots have you tested on?  There was a problem a few months ago with glass not showing up on certain roof pieces on a couple of lots in one world.  I'm not saying that that's the same issue you're having, but it's worth testing on different lots.  Please test the same lot in the new save that you've been using in your existing save, and a couple different lots (in different worlds) in your affected save, and let me know what you find.

    Additionally, please try playing on ultra settings, if only briefly.  The game may be very stuttery or lag somewhat, but that's fine, you can revert the settings and quit as soon as you see whether it makes a difference.  You do need to set thet game to ultra, then quit and reload, to see the full effects.

    @Nadjasigourney  It looks like your post was caught in the spam filter, but it's back now.  Your dxdiag shows that the driver for your laptop's graphics chip is quite old, which may be part or all of the problem.  You can try installing the newest driver from Intel:

    You want the one from December 2022, not the older one.  Run the installer as an admin: right-click the download and select "Run as administrator."  Restart your computer after installing and before trying to play.

    HP sometimes installs extra software that blocks drivers not from HP, so if you can't install this driver, let me know.  In that case, please also link the driver download page for your laptop.  Go here:

    Enter your laptop's serial number, choose your OS (just Windows 10 is fine) if asked, and you'll land on the driver download page for your computer.  Please link that here.  It doesn't contain any personal information, just drivers for the overall model.

    @Nadjasigourney  Did you try the driver dated February 1, 2018?  That's actually the newest driver if you go by version number, and it's newer than the one you have installed.  If you get the same error, please run a couple of checks of your Windows system files:

    • Hit Windows key-X
    • Choose either “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator),” whichever option is offered
    • Inside the window that appears, copy and paste “DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth” without quotes, and enter
    • The system will start validating soon. If it throws an error, please list it here
    • After it reaches 100%, hit Windows key-X again
    • Again, choose “PowerShell (Administrator)” or “Windows Terminal (Administrator)”
    • Inside the window, copy and paste “sfc /scannow” without quotes, and enter
    • Post the message you receive here

    Restart your computer, hit Windows key-i, select Update & Security, and click the box to check for updates.  If any install, restart again afterwards.

    I would test with the HP driver first, then if it doesn't help, try again to install the Intel driver.

    If you still can't install either driver, there's a way to force it, but that's best avoided if it's not necessary.  It shouldn't do any harm, and at worst, you can just remove that driver again, but it's better to try the standard approach first.

    Well i did all, i even updated all possible for the laptop.

    I could indeed download and install the february 1, 2018 - after all the necessary updates it still does not work.

    The message i received after the Powershell Administrator is:

    Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. 

    For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at 

    windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline 

    repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE flag.

    I cant seem to install the intel one unfortunately. I really have a feeling it is due to one of the packs, as crazy as it sounds. I think i will uninstall the game again tomorrow, and add the last few packs one by one, to see if the problem stems from them as i honestly dont know what to do next. You have been incredible, thank you - do you think there is reason to my uninstalling and looking at the last 4 pack separately/ do you think it can be solved after all these steps?

    @Nadjasigourney  I haven't seen this particular problem before, so I couldn't tell you whether it had anything to do with your install.  I tend to think not just because the doors do sometimes appear normal, which makes me think this is more of a graphics processing issue: the proper data is present but not always being handled properly.  Still, if you want to uninstall and reinstall, the worst that can happen is you'll waste some time.

    You can also force-install the new graphics driver.  Hit Windows key-X, select the Device Manager, open the Display adapters section, right-click the Intel HD 520 entry and select Properties, and under the Driver tab, click Update driver.  Click Browse my computer, choose your Downloads folder, then click Next and see whether you can select the driver and install it.

    If that doesn't work, go to this page, which offers a .zip for the driver rather than the .exe you downloaded before:

    Download that .zip, which is what you'll be using, and extract it by right-clicking and selecting Extract.  Take note of where it extracts to; the Downloads folder is preferred.

    Restart the computer and repeat the above, but now you're opening Downloads and selecting the extracted folder, then Graphics folder inside.  If you get the "the best drivers are already installed" message, repeat again, except after "browse my computer," click Let me pick, then Have disk, then Browse again, choose to look in Downloads (or wherever you extracted the .zip), then open the extracted folder and then Graphics.  Windows should find an file that ends in .inf, which is what you want.  Let it install, and restart when it's done.

    You can probably see why I was hoping you'd be able to install the graphics driver the "normal" way, but sometimes the software doesn't cooperate.

    @puzzlezaddict I did indeed need to do the most, but eventually it installed - i restarted my laptop and tried the game. Unfortunately it makes no difference =( 

    Im about to start the deleting and reinstalling... Im desperate haha at this point

    @puzzlezaddict it worked! Not right away, but after i deleted and re-installed the game, together with the new graphic driver - it works! I am so happy, thank you loads!

    @Nadjasigourney  I'm so glad to hear that.  Just so you know, this is probably the last driver Intel will provide for your processor and graphics chip.  So you shouldn't need and probably won't be able to update it going forward.
