General Patch Fallout (updated Sept 7)
This patch broke many script mods, but not all. The key symptom is that you get last exception (LE) files generated and you can’t load a household – the game bounces you back to the world map or you get infinite household loading. The Broken/Updated list for patch 1.117 will have a lot of script mods as a result (with the first, long post as soon as I can fit that in today).
Mods that alter the main menu also all broke. These will not be listed individually on the “Broken” list unless the title makes it non-obvious what they are. Most say “main menu” right in them. They will all be listed the first time they update after this patch. For main menu background replacement mods specifically, those requiring the LunarBritney main menu mod will now work only when there isn't an EA online background active.
Key Mods Cleared as Compatible with 1.117
- Deaderpool – MC Command Center v2025.4.0
- Lot 51 – Lot 51 Core Library v1.33.1
- Scumbumbo (Triplis/LittleMsSam) – XML Injector v4.2
- weerbesu – UI Cheats Extension
Pack Selection and Mods: Aug 22 updated info
It was originally reported here and elsewhere that Lot 51 Core Library and likely other injector mods could not be used if you use the new pack selection system. Since then, a couple of creators have done some more in-depth testing of how the checklist pack selection system affects the game’s running of mods, especially injector mods such as Lot 51’s Core Library. This is the current state of knowledge:
- If you choose large packs as part of your pack selection or deselection, the game lets you restart. Do the restart and (most) mods should be fine.
- If you choose only Kits, the game does not restart and you can end up with mod issues. If you use mods, manually restart the game after Kit-only pack selection.
TwistedMexi has indicated that TOOL Mod has issues with the pack selection system, and these might not be the same issue (that's not confirmed). This could be the case for other individual mods as well. This new advice doesn’t guarantee that all mods will work right with checklist pack selection.
Alternatively, use the method from James Turner’s website. (The technical difference between the methods – adding an argument to the EA App vs. using the new checklist – are related to how when and how pack removal happens relates to when the game sees mods.)*
For either method, first remove mods that depend on the packs you want to exclude. If some of those are recipe mods or custom careers, first remove plates of food and quit those careers.
tl;dr
- If you use mods, always restart the game after checklist pack selection changes, before playing.
- This might not help with all mod issues related to pack selection.
Sept 7 additional info: UPDATED:
- Lot 51 – Lot 51 Core Library – v1.34, Sept 7, own site/CF - NOTE: As of this update, if you change pack selections, Core Library will ensure that you restart the game.
Many thanks to Kuttoe and Lot 51 for legwork on testing!
