- I prefer maxis match. I was never a fan of alpha. I like my game to be cohesive anyway and Maxis hairs and Alpha don't go very well together. The game would still assign base game hairs to townies and i would either need to change every townie manually or get default alpha replacements for every Maxis hair. Too much work for me.
- I'm picky with both. I'm more for maxis match cause it looks like it belongs in the game. Some Aplha hairs are nice but just don't look right.
- I feel like Alpha custom content looks weird in the game, I prefer maxis match cause it looks like the maxis stuff and integrates into the game better
- Depends on the content. There are some clothes that I like regardless Maxis or not. Hair and body features, I stick to Maxis Match as that is my personal preference.
Off-topic but love the sig @McFizzleShizzle :joy: I know it's not the best of movies, but I think Jim did a good job with it. - It depends.
I used to use alpha hairs but about a month ago switched to clay and now think alpha hair looks really out of place. I'm not a fan of most of the EA colors so while I do use EA items, they are recolored with my own palettes.
So to me, unless you are using the exact same color palette as EA and the same meshes, then it's not really MM but instead a sort of MM hybrid. "Loudon_Wainwright;15384267" wrote:
I only use Maxis match. Everything else looks like absolute garbage.
I don't use cc, and while I certainly wouldn't go as far as calling alpha hair garbage, it looks really stiff and unreal most of the time.
A lot of the time it doesn't have the fullness of TS4 style hair or looks like a weird, crispy but shiny plastic helmet.
It doesn't fit with the artstyle of the rest of the game and it certainly doesn't look more realistic, to me it always feels sorta "cheap" I guess. Like, I cringe when I see it in screenshots because it doesn't match with the games' and my personal aesthetics.- Thanks @LosaruTaiyo :D it's my favourite Christmas movie haha
- I mostly use maxis match hairs, but I do have a love for clayified alpha hairs so I use them a lot. With clothing I have some cc that could be considered realistic, but as long as they don't look too real I don't care.
Basically the only thing I don't like is a piece of cc has English writing instead of simlish. I usually pop into S4S and delete or edit the swatches to fit my play style - I think I only have one piece of CC that has English on it and that's my Robert Downey Jr. T-shirt someone made for my sim and it's only for my simself. >.>
- I largely prefer alpha hair, as long as it looks realistic and not doll-like. I can't get used to Maxis hair. I don't find that alpha hair looks so different that it doesn't belong to TS4. After, maybe my drivers make it look better than it would on other computers, I don't know.
I can easily imagine this kind of hair belonging to the game even with no other CC, because it doesn't look excessively detailed even though I play on ultra... It does look weird in CAS, I admit, but in game, I think it's very pretty. Although it depends on the texture, I guess.

In comparison, I really can't get used to this. I find it looks "playmobil".
