I've pretty much had this problem since Get Together EP and its really annoying, basically whenever my sims make friends, they call and ask to hang out, or go to their house, or even go to a restaurant... they call every hour of the day, in the game. Its getting really annoying to the point where i make them have no friends because they call non stop! I don't use mods or CC..
Personally, I think it's fine if friends call my Sims often. But switching their phone to silent doesn't seem to work anymore, which is really annoying.

Get Together enhanced the feature of other Sims calling to invite Sims to various places.
The incessant Phone Calls drive me to distraction. Especially the ones from Sims I barely know to congratulate my Sim for 'becoming friends with ____'. These kinds of calls are coming in to congratulate my Sim for becoming friends with their own Infant, Toddler, Child or other member in the same household.
There are also the invites to those "fabulous" things happening on some other community lot or venue at 3AM? really?
These or ANY calls change the game speed. Entire household is asleep and the call comes in.
My Sims are not waking up for the calls but the speed goes from 2 or 3 back to 1 / normal speed.
This is happening in Non-Vampire households.
Clean game with Zero Mods and Zero CC.
I agree it's too much but some seem to like it and I don't think it's a bug so it's something for the feedback section in the general forum.
The weird text messages are being looked into in the according thread in the bug forum.
