Game keeps freezing/crashing

Yes this is only happening with mods/cc enabled, but I removed the mods/cc that I installed after the game last worked and the game is still crashing. This has been happening since the 7th Jan this year. This has not been since any game update. I have “repaired” the game through Origin and deleted the localthumbcache. And it still has not made a difference.

I do have a lot of mods/cc (250.8GB) and the game has always lagged and been slow with all the mods and cc (it usually takes about an hour and a half to load up to the starting menu from launch) but I have never had it freeze/crash and just not work at all. It has frozen on the loading screen and on the start menu and I have not been able to load up a saved game (all this with mods/cc installed). And when I say freeze, I mean I can’t even click the home button to do something quickly and then click back onto the game. I have to force the entire laptop to shut down to be able to take control of the laptop again.

The only thing I can think that may have caused this is that when I was previously playing, I accidentally reset my game settings. I have tried to restore it to its previous settings, but I can’t remember exactly what I had. I had always tried to keep graphics purposefully low (except Sim detail) because I have a very old laptop that I have been using for around 12 years. I do play the game with DirectX11 though. I’m just devastated at the thought of not being able to get it to work again! My save files are nearly 12 years in the making and have all been enhanced using lots of mods and custom content! Please help if you can! Thank you in advance!
