I need help and am genuinely very, very frustrated.

I need HELP. I am genuinely very, very frustrated with this bug or whatever it is. (I am not super tech-y so my apologies if this sounds dumb. lol)

The Sims 4, Steam through laptop

I bought the High School Years pack the day it came out. So, sometime in late July, I don't remember the exact date. I have not been able to play since. I can NOT play! Every time I load up The Sims 4, everything works just fine until I load up a saved game (ANY saved game). It loads and takes me to the world selection, just like usual. But when I try to go to build somewhere or resume playing as a household, it takes me right back to the world selection and says something along the lines of "error, failed to load, relaunch the game". When I try again, it takes me right back, but this time a blue box (image attached) thing pops up on the screen and some of the text on the screen turns into "~~~~~". No matter how many times I try again this will not work. I've even tried making a new saved game. I can make my household and select the season/world/house, but I can't play or build. This has been going on since I purchased the pack. Very frustrating. I have tried everything. I tried relaunching, didn't work. So then I looked it up and others are having this issue too, so I did everything the comments said to do - and, like for the people needing help, it didn't work for me. NOTHING worked. Deleting mods/cc, uninstalling the game, "repairing" the game, uninstalling Steam, etc etc etc. I have tried EVERYTHING and nothing works. I'd like to play the game, especially since I spent $40 on this new pack and haven't been able to play it yet! This is very frustrating, so I need help from EA.

Not that I'm aware of, but have you deleted your localthumbcache.package and avatarcache.package? It looks like that's the last advice crinrict gave and the OP didn't come back. Maybe no news is good news?

Those are cache files and sometimes hang on to bad data that can cause issues. I would remove your mods temporarily, delete these files, and see if that helps.

@xochiquetzl_xkvn Okay, I did those. It let me play one time, but being the idiot I am I closed it out of habit, even though it was working. And now it won't work again? Not sure. Thanks for your help!

I suspect you have an out of date or broken mod. This last patch was really hard on mods.

Do you have a lot? If you’ve checked the broken/updated mod list and updated everything on it, you might need to slowly add them back to figure out which one it is. Have people explained the 50-50 method? Take them out, delete the cache files, test. If it works, add back half, test.

If it breaks, it’s one of those. Delete the cache and test the other half.

If it doesn’t, those are probably okay, and add back half of what’s left. Test.

Repeat until you find which one(s) are broken.

If you haven’t checked the broken/updated mod list, that would be an easy place to start.

@xochiquetzl_xkvn I will try that. Thank you for your help! I'm not an expert at these things so I appreciate you helping me out and explaining to me!
