I updated my Sims game and my game is now lagging so much that it's unplayable. It is not the graphics, but the gameplay (processing??). For example: before, when I command a sim to use the bathroom, they would immediately go, complete the action and continue to the next action. Now I click and the sim just stands there for as much two real-world minutes (sometimes with idle animations). Eventually they wil start the action
which wil take them more than two minutes to finish. And then it takes another two minutes to start the next action. As you can imagine, this is unplayable. I never experienced this to this extent before last week's update. When I go to create-a-sim everything runs smoothly. But I can't really play. I've already: 'repaired' the game, deleted cache, cleaned up my mods folder, updated my computer's graphic drivers. Please let me know how I can fix this problem.
@jolandii Have you tested with no mods or custom content at all? If not, please do so now.
If that doesn't help, please test a new save for comparison's sake.

@puzzlezaddict @Thank you for the tip! I disabled all mods and was able to identify the culprit. It was a script mod that wasn't compatible with the new patch. I updated it and the game is running as it was before

Hi, could you tell me what mod caused this issue?

Hi @SandyBee3 Lag can be caused by multiple mods, by computer specs, by heavily stuffed lots and households, and by game issues. The only way to even narrow it down to a mod is to test with no mods: Exit Sims 4 then drag your Mods folder to your desktop. Then delete the file called localthumbcache from Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. If you think you might accidentally forget to exit without saving after testing, copy your Saves folder to your desktop too, to back it up. Now open Sims 4 and see if you still have the problem. If you don't, you can start the process of figuring out what from your Mods folder was causing it... if it's a mod. For that part, start at Broken/Updated Mods .
