Mod/CC loading issues [was: Save is loading but households won't open]

It would js boot me out. I've tried repairing, unconnecting my scripts and mods, then reconnecting them, and I've tried uninstalling the sims app itself. Before this, i js happen to get my scripts to work( they haven't worked since I got the game, and I already have 426+ hours). I was finally enjoying the game, n im not techy at all, but it was def the update😞

  • tezzy_casual When you "unconnected" your mods, did you just disable? If so, that isn't a full test of whether you have mod issues. See the instructions for "vanilla" testing in How to Use Mods and CC :

    1. Rename the Mods folder (I find it helps me to keep organized if I also drag it to the desktop).
    2. Delete the file called localthumbcache.
    3. Test again in your save.
    4. If that doesn't work, please also test a new save.

Let me know how both #3 and #4 go.

    Let's try a deeper test:

    1. Drag your whole Sims 4 folder from Document > Electronic Arts to your desktop and rename it.
    2. Run a Game Repair in the EA App. (If you use Steam, the equivalent is Verify Integrity.)
    3. Launch Sims 4. You should get no list of mods on launch, and you should have no option to load a previous save. Reset your Options.
    4. Start with New to test if your issue recurs in a new game.

It works now, but only a few pieces of mods/cc are getting through. will my old saves be gone forever?

tezzy_casual No. You have them still in your old Saves folder, which is in the renamed/moved Sims 4 folder. You can put them back when you get your Mods folder sorted out.

What do you mean by "only a few" are "getting through"? Please give more detail.

Automaxis So that I can get you the right help,

    1. Can you get into households you never loaded before?
    2. Can you get into households in a new save?
    3. Have you tested with a renamed Mods folder?
    4. When did this start, and when did you last play before that?

My MC Control Center shows up when I select a sim. I see old mods like shirts and paints I had before, but most of my original mods are gone. And I'm able to see new mods. Is it possible that they may have been deleted? I've gone through my mods on curseforge and it seems like it uninstalled the mod i coulda swore i already had.

Edit: Now its giving me an error screen saying relaunch

  • I was having the same issue and found that RPO was the mod not letting me get into my households . After I removed it from my mod folder I was able to load into households again.

tezzy_casual Since you can get into a household:

It sounds like you have multiple mods folders. Do you use something like OneDrive? If so, here's how to stop it from touching Sims: https://forums.ea.com/discussions/the-sims-4-technical-issues-pc-en/current-issue-sims-4-savesuser-content-disappearing-pc/11838402

Here's how to find the folder your game is looking at for mods and CC: https://sims4.crinrict.com/eng/2018/07/how-to-find-your-user-folder/

If these things combined don't solve your issue, please let me know.
