Moved my game from MAC to PC- CC will not work

Hello!

I promise before posting on here I did a deep dive and I'm not really able to get the help i need from what I've searched. I originally played on Mac Book Air in Origin and had my game on a hard drive. I originally had my hard drive formatted for Mac and i reformatted it to be able to load it to my PC.

I am able to move my save games (which yay!!) but I'm not able to move my CC or mods. Now my mods whatever i don't have much i can redownload that. I have 8k worth of CC like clothes, accessories, furniture. It gives me an error like the attached. I am able to download the cc from my new gaming pc fine and the game will run but, anything from my old mac it won't allow me to. It is saying its attached to Origin. if I'm going to just have to restart, I will cry but, I will just do it, but I wanted to see if anyone ever had this issue. I just don't understand why my saves could move over with no issue but, literal clothes cc can't...

Also, I did a test where I just moved one CC like a hair from my old hard drive and it won't run. I also did see people say like compress all of the mods to like to make it one file, I'm not comfortable with that as sometimes things stop working or you don't like it anymore so if that's the only option, I guess it's my time to restart!

Thank you for the help.

  • Hi i know this post is old but i was searching for solutions because I had the same issue. I manage to fix the issue following these steps:

When moving the files from MAC to PC first you have to upload your mods folder to an online storage site. I used a 30day free trial of drop box because it allows me to upload up to 10TB (10,000gb) and i had 96gb in my mods folder. google drive only lets you upload 15gb.

Once i uploaded it to drop box, it split the file into two, the original file and a copy of the file with a "." in front of it.

After i redownloaded the folder from dropbox i deleted the "." copy of the file and put the downloaded folder into my mods folder and the game worked normally. I also deleted the ".ds store" file which is a mac file.

ps. if i tried moving the mac file via sd card to my pc then the "." copy file didnt show up and my game would show the error.

pps. in case you only have the files on an sd or usb, you can upload the files to dropbox via an sd card you dont have to upload the files from your mac for it to split into two files.

Hopefully this helps someone else in the future because this was my last hope before i was deciding to just use the mod manager to go 1 by 1 and just redownload 96gbs of mods

  • Hi! I had the same issue. Unable to move my cc from masc to window, all the rest was fine.

it worked when instead of having my cc “packed” in their own file, I actually put them all in the mode file without their cc file.

exemple : in modes, I had several files of several cc download, so I went in each file and copy past the content of those file to put them in my new mod file of my window laptop

    and it worked that way!

    Hope this helps
