There's no interactions at all. The menu just doesn't appear. I haven't tried having them sit down first, but it shouldn't be an issue because I took all the clutter off the desk and tried the dining table too, but it still didn't work... I'm really at a loss for what else to try.

HI @maimewylie
Try the following
- Close the game
- Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
- Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry
- Close the game again
- Copy JUST your save game from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old\Saves to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Saves
- Start your save
- Check if you still have the error
- Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.
Okay, so before I saw this, I tried to run it again and still had issues, so I went back to my newest file, the "Troubleshooting" save, and suddenly had the same bug there too. Now, I'll be honest, I don't know how to tell my saves apart when looking at the slot numbers, so when I followed the steps, I copied the whole folder over instead. But, when I opened up Troubleshooting, the issue was fixed. I play with a significant amount of mods so I don't want to open up the file where the issue first cropped up without them in there as well in case it corrupts, because I've had that happen before and I would cry (/hj).
Thank you so much for the help btw!
- crinrict2 years agoHero+@maimewylie Just test on a backup of the save without mods/cc. You can then always go back to that backup if anything goes wrong.
It does sound like a mod issue so I'm moving this to mods/cc for now. So I re-tested all my mods in the Troubleshooting file, found one mod that seemed to be causing the computer issue, and reinstalled all my other mods. The computers now worked in both my Troubleshooting file. Only the adults in my Legacy file, where this issue first popped up, can use them, but they don't work at all in my Challenges file.
I feel like I'm playing Whack-a-Mole here. I've *never* had issues with my mods or cc before this and keep everything updated religiously.
@maimewylie Try a clean folder to see if it clears out glitches in that Challenges file:
- Drag your whole Sims 4 folder from Document > Electronic Arts to your desktop. Make sure you're doing this with the folder the game sees.
Launch Sims 4 and reset your Options. - Exit and copy files out of your old Saves folder into the new Saves folder. Important: Don't just copy the old folder! You want to use the newly created folders.
- Launch Sims 4 and use Load to test the (still mod-free) save. Exit without saving
If that works:
- Copy your old Tray files (this is your Library), Screenshots, Videos, and Mods files (except resource.cfg).
- Launch Sims 4 and use Load to test the (now modded) save.
- Drag your whole Sims 4 folder from Document > Electronic Arts to your desktop. Make sure you're doing this with the folder the game sees.
Done, but we are back to no one is able to use the computer, not even the adult in my Troubleshooting file. No mods in the game, and default settings with just the save files copied over into a newly generated folder.
Once again, thank you for the ideas, even if I am getting closer and closer to ripping my hair out (/j).
@maimewylie Okay, so if you have no mods or CC in the Mods folder the game is seeing, and you deleted localthumbcache, let's try the next thing: a Game Repair in Origin/EA App.
