Re: [INFO] Using Mods/CC on a Mac
Hey everyone! I'm hoping to get some help on an issue I'm having. On Friday December 1, my game worked perfectly fine, no issues at all. But yesterday when I tried to play, my game just wouldn't load. I can't get to even the loading screen, my game just spins indefinitely. Sometimes, it will act like it's going to open, but then crash before I ever reach the loading screen. I have searched forums, looked for specific answers, and tried everything. Here are all the things I've tried, but still having the same issue.
- Removing Mods folder and letting a new one populate
- Removing all Mods from the folder and trying to gradually add some back in
- Deleting localthumbcache.package
- Uninstalling and reinstalling Origin (I play on Mac)
- Uninstalling and resintalling the Sims 4 game
- Clearing Origin cache and preferences using the RepairOrigin software
- Restarting and updating my computer
- Repairing the game in Origin
- Turned Vertical Sync on and off (don't know why, I just saw somewere that it might help)
Basically, when there are NO mods or CC in the Mods folder, the game loads just fine. But as soon as I add even one single mod to the folder, the game won't open. I've tried several variations of testing my mods, but there is no scenario where my game loads unless I have no mods in the folder at all. In-game, "enable mods and cc" is checked, as is "allow script mods". I have no idea what to do at this point. Here are some hardware specifics in case that makes a difference
Macbook Air 2020
248GB storage 8GB memory
Apple M1 chip
macOS Sonoma 14.1.2
TIA for any assistance!
