Why do people upload CC sims/houses on the gallery?

Now I'm not knocking anyone for using CC first of all. I'm an avid user of CC and I can't live without my folder of ccs! That said, I really don't understand why anyone uploads CC sims to the gallery. They are aware that you can't download CC via gallery, so your cc-covered sims are going to download as bald and naked for a user that doesn't already own these cc items. So why do people do it? It's just false advertising and frankly it's annoying. Despite this new patch that filters cc items in the gallery, I still see plenty of cc items leaking through (how this is possible, I don't know). But I really dont want to see this stuff anymore when I'm browsing through my gallery.

Many people find a way to leak through the filter. Despite the filter, I still see tons of CC. That was the whole point of my thread. I do not want to see it, yet people purposely leak it through.

That im not sure about. none shows up on mine unless the box is ticked. Im sure its just a hiccup with the gallery
  • I'm sure most people aren't uploading with any malicious intent. They're just uploading the sims they're most proud of and, if they are CC users, it stands to reason that their sims are going to have CC on them.

It doesn't really bother me. When I look for a sim to download I'm looking for unique features, not hair, clothes or makeup. If a sim shows up bald or with Base Game default clothes on it's no big deal to me as I'm going to customize them to suit my taste anyway.

@RhiiJayy: I also don't see creations showing CC unless I click the Advanced button when I'm in the Gallery. Heck, I can't even see my own creations containing CC in my Library unless I click that button! LOL

Hah. I'm not so bothered about the community Library but they can atleast let us see our own creations on ours
  • I don't think its false advertising, If I upload my CC sim, when I redownload it on my second computer, I get all my CC content.
  • Its how I transferred my data before I knew about the dccache. But I do understand how it gets annoying because some people upload buggy CC. But usually whenever I downloaded someone else's sim, I got their CC too and I'm actually happy about it because sometimes I just download their sim for a particular hairstyle or dress.
  • I didn't think you could see CC Sims in the gallery unless you mark the "show custom content" part of the search screen. So you are seeing them through your own search.
  • I download sims from the gallery for their facial features, so I don’t care if I get bold sim. It’s easy to choose new hair and clothing for me.
  • @T_Mari it sounds like you are talking about Sims 3. The Sims 4 gallery does not transfer CC. You would have to have the CC installed on both computers in your Mods folder in order for a Sim to wear the same outfit in both places. The CC will show in the gallery picture but, it does not independently download. In the Sims 3, it did.

I use the Gallery as a "backup" of my Sims in case my Saved games are lost/corrupted. So it makes sense if people with CC are also doing that. I personally never use CC though.

Same. I've lost everything before and do this as a safe way to recover them if something happens to my computer.
