I was playing then the game said I didn't have internet

I have been playing a little over a week on XBox X.  At first I could play the main game but when I would try to purchase an expansion it said I didn't have internet.  Then one day it was working and I have even purchased the Cottage Expansion.  I have been playing for about 5 days with that expansion. 

Today I made a character and picked a house then the game went black with a red edge.  I get the message that I don't have internet connections.  My internet is working.  My husband was playing a game on his XBox X.  I have been researching on this site everything to do to try to fix it. 

I have changed the DNS.  I did the suggestion on the MAC setting and I still get to a black screen with a red boarder that states that I don't have internet connection.  If I can't get this to work then I want a refund on my purchase.  

I will not try to play at all.
