I've split your post off and moved it over to the console section of the forums. Is your game completely frozen in build mode currently, or are you getting crashing as well? How often is this happening?
@EA_Solaire It also won't allow me to save in build mode.

If the game is currently frozen, you'll need to quit the game from the main menu of your Xbox and power-cycle your console.
Where in-game are you seeing the crashing, is this when you load into a save file, loading into a specific household, on travelling, etc? What happens when you try to save your game?
