I'm absolutely with your in all factors here. I started with Sims 1 & 2 skipped 3 & have played 4 since just after launch on PS4. I'm frankly in awe how differently the game runs on PC vs consoles. My PS4 takes 9-17 minutes to load the game & that problem is persistent over 4 consoles. Yes 4. It's not a my hardware on a single console issue.
Like I said the problem of the loading screen telling me my graphics are being optimized started the day I started playing on XB-S with just my Game Pass base game installed. So that at least is not related to owning cottage living but the base game update for every pack installs pack compatibility content to base games. So it could have started in June last year & I wouldn't know since I've only owned this console a few weeks.
I want to just reiterate that the Xbox Series S plays like my gaming PC. Load times are fast! Bugs are limited to a minimum. Simulation lag is almost unnoticeable. I'm really disappointed with Sony right now seeing the extreme difference in the game quality. I even installed only base game/ cats & dogs on my newest PS4 last August to try& get some value for my already owned product& the game just took forever to do anything. I've timed my PC & PS4 loading in as a race to see exact times from launch to actually moving a sim in a household in a new game. 22 minutes on PS4 & 6 on PC. I'm at a complete loss! I'm absolutely stunned at this difference.
I'm also currently unsure what are bugs & what are features having just bought a while new console from a while new company.
I’m not sure about posting this here but I ended up on this thread after searching the issues discussed in your post.
I recently started a fresh game which worked for awhile now same issue and I can’t play.
I’ve been a Simmer for some time now and I have invested in every add on til now (and most kits). I had not played in a long time because of issues with loading and crashing, it takes the fun away!
I’m wondering why this is still an issue (looking at the dates on your post and mine). It’s very sad. I’m going to have to become a recovering Simmer as it doesn’t make sense to pay more for a game that I can’t play let alone enjoy.
HELP 2023!!!!
- simsplayer8182 years agoHero@MzT1113 I see you've posted on the crashing thread too but in the meantime have you tried the tips and suggestions above on #83? There could be other factors such as console age and storage, such as other games, save files. Once I had about half of the game I did start to struggle on an older Xbox for example. I don't know what Console you are using or the age and model but I did also get help from the manufacturer. So for example with Microsoft they are absolutely brilliant, I got a dedicated rep who worked with me over the phone. He got me to start again and uninstall and reinstall everything and kept ringing up to check how it was going.
There's also the main troubleshooting guide here with more advice:

I can empathise with you as this time last year I couldn't play at at. Everytime I switched on my Xbox series S at the time and loaded up The Sims it would crash within minutes. I'm finding the Xbox Series X more reliable. I've got all content installed except for Vampires and Bust the Dust. It's just such a massive game it takes a lot of console maintenance to be able to run it due to the size.
