Animal sheds

I altered my house in build mode. Since then, my cows have not been in the game. The sheds say they are occupied, and they are in my household inventory, but I can't place them. One of my shed says capacity: 2/1. I tried to buy another cow and place it, and have bought multiple new sheds, but nothing is working. This is frustrating as I spent money on the cottage living pack, and would like to be able to use it properly.
