base game not found

hi, I was trying to move my sims 4 to an external drive. I think I may have did the steps wrong I deleted the sims first then moved the electronic arts folder . Now when I try to update sims (which I shouldn't be able to do bc I deleted it ) but says file not found and that the base game isn't installed. how do I fix this /\
