Game is lagging after update

I haven't played sims in a while, since before the very first lovestruck update. anyway, I just updated two days ago, and my game won't work. The game opens and runs okay, it was taking longer to load than usual. I was able to use CAS. But when it came to playing, none of my sims would listen to what I told them. They would just randomly start dancing. One sim was in the front yard but the game said she was playing video games. I completely deleted all of my mods and cc (after backing up) and was still having the same problems. It's super frustrating.
