[INFO REQUEST] Sims 4 Cats and Dogs always shows 'Download' in Origin

I have a Mac that meets all the requirements for Cats & Dogs so I purchased and downloaded it. The download manager says it successfully downloaded but the button next to C&D expansion pack under extra content still says "Download" instead of "Play" and doesn't have the green checkmark that confirms installation. I can start up Sims4 and it pops up a menu about the C&D expansion pack right before it crashes my computer. Anyone know what's up? I've tried multiple things to fix it but...

Hello.  I have had this issue as well.

I'm able to play the game, even though I have downloaded it - it still is in a constant state of 'preparing' 'download now' 'download'. If I click play, my game does not have the content for it. 

I'm running macOS Sierra Version 10.12.6. I've tried reinstalling the entire game, restarting origin multiple times by cleaning cache and everything that live chat has suggested. I have tried downloading the game without mods and with them, it still gives me the issue. I've tried on a different mac account that did not have a trace of origin on it so.. completely from scratch. It hasn't worked.

I'm not sure what to do to fix the issue.

What do you mean by 'If I click play, my game does not have the content for it'? Can you play the game but no C&D content/gameplay is available? It would really help if you could provide your answers as others have on this thread and answer all the questions 🙂

What macOS version are you running? 10.13.1 (17B48) 

Are you running any antivirus/firewalls? yes

Does the game actually play and save ok? no

Are you launching it from within Origin or through the Sims 4 app in your Applications folder (please try both)?

• Have you tried the Origin reset tool? Yes 
• Tried repairing, uninstall, reinstall, restart mac etc... funny thing is that an hour or so ago the game worked perfectly with all cc installed.  Don't know why the Sims 4 refuses to play/open now.

Thanks. When it was working can you remember if it still said download in Origin or did it show as installed?

Showed as installed when working.  After the hour or so when I went back in to play the game the cats & dog expansion was not showing in my library.  After I did the deletion of Origin and reinstalled thru the instructions given here the cats & dog expansion showed up.   But still Origin will not open the Sims 4 to play. No error message is given (which is strange) because as a rule I would get an error message.  Installed S4S, did all the required fixes for broken cc etc and still not loading the game.  I'm at a loss as to what could possible be wrong with the game.

First of all, thank you for sharing with us the details about the problem you were having. Could you please check if Origin is still giving you the option to 'Download'?

If so, please, try to uninstall and install the game again, and let us know if that helps.

Mine's all fixed 🙂

Mine doesn't say download anymore, but I'm still experiencing the same pets problems. SUCCES!

However, I'm still having the same problems. When I want to adopt a pet, I press adopt, I accept, I choose a name, it take $200 and then nothing happens. I can interact with the pet as if it was my own, but it's not in my household and the adoption lady doesn't leave. I've tried going into CAS where it then appears in my household and stays when I go back, but again the adoption lady doesn't leave. I've clicked to end the evaluation and she takes the pet with her. I have forced a pet in my household by creating one or clicked "at to household" with testingcheats on, but then i can't train the dog. I've tried befriending a stray, but I never get the choice to ask it to move in. I have only adopted a pet succesfully ONCE, after i forced one in.
I don't know if there is some special thing you have to do, that I'm just not getting, but it's very frustrating.

oh, and when i aged up my babies, my sim still had to introduce themselves to them again

Thanks for letting us know 'Download' is fixed for you! 

What you are describing is a different issue than the Download one.
