Kernel panic with Sims 3 on OS10 Sierra

I have a mid 2012 MacBookPro.  2.9GHz i7 4GB ram. OS 10.11.6

I installed Sims 3 fresh today, I have never played on this computer.  Everything is up to date in Sims and the only additional content I have is Supernatural.

After clicking to play the game starts to load then the computer kernel panics and restarts.

I haven't found that this computer shouldn't be able to run the game so I'm wondering if there is a work around.

Thank you in advance!

Great, so your Intel graphics are supported which is good. Can you set up a new user account on your Mac and try and play in that account?

So Oddly it works fine in a new user, till I actually try to log in to my EA account then it crashes every time I hit enter to log in. It does not kernel panic though just the application closes.

Yes, it does that annoyingly. Just make sure the box is checked to save your details. Next time you open the Launcher you should be logged in.

It's not that odd that it works in a new user account, it confirms that something is conflicting with the game in your normal user account. Something serious and odd to cause the kernel panic though. Maybe reinstalling the OS may help? Back up your Mac beforehand just in case but you shouldn't lose any data as the OS installs over the top of your current installation, checking and replacing any system files and permissions which may be corrupted.

The panic happening in one user but not another means it is not an OS issue. Unfortunately, it means there is something wrong in the preferences or the user itself is just messed up. OS would have been a nice easy fix.

I will try signing in a couple more times in the test user but I'm afraid now it's actually my EA account that is causing the issue... is that possible? I will also try signing out in my normal user and see if the game loads When not logged in

Thank you for your help so far.

Exactly, the files/permissions may be corrupted for that user account so reinstalling the OS may fix the issue. Or just delete the user account but that's a bit extreme 🙂 Reinstalling the OS is such good maintenance.

Can you still not get signed into the Launcher, even with the box checked?
