Newly downloaded Sims 4 crashes whole Mac once running

Hello,

I recently re-downloaded the sims 4, however after 5 mins of it running the game freezes and crashes my whole laptop. 

I have the MacBook pro 2020, the system is completely up to date and prior to redownloading, there were no leftover Sims 4 files. 

I tried a few trouble shooting options (based on articles found here) like removing the cache file, moving the options.ini file out of the Sims 4 folder, moving the whole sims 4 folder out to create a new one - but to no avail. 

I also have no files in saved or mods / CC as it is newly downloaded. 

Please help! :)

    A new game installation does not download a new Sims 4 folder. The Sims 4 folder is created when you launch the game and there is not a Sims 4 folder already in Documents > Electronic Arts.

    Do you have vsync enabled in game settings > graphic options? if not enable it.
