Nothing new downloaded for 25th anniversary

I did the download of the 70+ new items today using the EA app. It first said there was a problem then told me to click the button to restart the download and I did. It said it was complete and then had me restart the entire game.

THERE IS NOTHING NEW IN ANY AREA OF THE GAME. That's not what's supposed to happen.

The only advice from the EA site is to check if the update was successfully installed (without anything on exactly how to do that in the new EA app). That and to do the regular restarting of things which I'd already done.

So how do I get the new update?

And I thought the new EA app was supposed to have dealt with these download issues. Why switch from Origin if the new app is just a buggy?

Help? This is beyond frustrating and disappointing, I'm sure you all understand.

Please try this workaround:

Rename the Sims 4 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts

Launch the game so a new one is created. Leave it running for a bit to see if the SDX drop is initiated. Restart when prompted

Check the items are in your game

If items are now in the game copy your saves, Mods and Tray folders into the newly created Sims 4 folder, replacing existing empty folders

If you don't have the SDX items in your game please post a screenshot here of the content folder and all folders within opened showing all files.

For reference, I have the SDX drop items in my game and these are all the files I have in the Content folder:

The timestamps can sometimes help with troubleshooting. In my screenshot above the SDX items were installed when I launched this installation of the game for the first time since they were released. The time stamp shows this as 13:43. Each time you load your game the retail.mac.contentmanifest file should update with the current time, as you can see where my game was last launched at 15:45 today

The Content folder should store all the SDX drops between patches. Once the game is patched the folders, in this case 1.content.beta.mac.31.0.2, are automatically removed by the game as the items are in the patch.

For all those who don't have the SDX items in their game, please can you compare your folders to my screenshot. Posting a picture of your folder would help for comparison :)

Have a look in Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > content. What files are in that content folder?

In that file is a file named: 1.content.beta.mac.31.0.2
and there is a document called: retail.mac.contentmanifest
I tried all the things. Just got finished with uninstalling and reinstalling and clearing the cache but there's still absolutely no new items in my game beyond a new window and door set in build mode and the redone buildings in the community online.

Im having the same issue! I had an early morning flight on the 5th so I was going to download it when I got there but there was never any update. I’ve repaired my game, cleared the cache nothing 🤷‍♀️

The 70 new items were part of an SDX drop, meaning they are supposed to be downloaded whilst the game is open. With the game open, go to Game Options --> Sims Delivery and "Check for new Content" . Once the SDX drop is available, it should download and ask you to restart your game. There was no requirement to update manually though EA App for this so that shouldn't be the issue.

belovedghcst Thanks. An empty content folder indicates your game has not been online to download the SDX drop. Do you have Online Social Features Access enabled in the in-game Game Options > Other setting? Is EA App online?

August1965 is 1.content.beta.mac.31.0.2 a file or a folder? It should be a folder with a nested folder named Data and subsequent nested folders called Client and Simulation. Each of those folders should contain various files.

Hi I have the 1.content.beta.mac.31.0.2 file with a data file inside then a client and simulation file inside of that which both contain packages is it all supposed to be there? I usually just have the retail.mac.contentmanifest file inside my content folder?

Any update on this yet? I am having their same problem! I got an in game notification about downloading immediately or waiting. I chose to wait and never got the notification again. Even after checking the area in setting about refreshing for the in game gifts, still nothing appears. It says I am up to date on downloads but clearly I am not!
