  • Have you tried launching the game directly by double clicking the Sims 4 application icon?

    I had kind of a similar problem recently, but since I had set up origin to remember my username and password and auto log me in when I launched it, I was able to load the game as described above and played Sims 4 with no problem. Your blank Origin screen is more narrow than my blank Origin screen was, and if that’s because you’re being prompted to enter Origin login credentials, I’m not sure this will work for you. But it’s worth a try!

    if I had needed do use origin for anything other than a passive platform to launch my game I probably would’ve been out of luck. I tried all of the things you described to resolve it but in the end had to wait for it to resolve itself.  My blank origin screen actually cleared up with this months patch, but now I have new origin bugginess. I would actually reverse trade for the blank screen and feel like a relative winner. 🙄 Too bad we can’t strike a deal! 😁

  • wish we could trade lol! i just tried opening just sims 4 through the icon on the dock but sims pops up and tells me that an error has occured and i cant play because origin isnt installed and is required for game play

    @mallybearcookie1

    i’m curious why you haven’t upgraded your OS to Mojave?  i’m also running on a MacBook Pro (mid-2015, 15”, Model 11,5) with current version of Mojave. While I complain about origin bugs, they’re #firstworldproblems compared to yours. Its the latest version of MacOS that runs both 64 bit and 32 bit apps so for me it’s kind of a sweet spot before jumping off the Catalina cliff. All hyperbole aside, I find it to be a robust and stable OS. if you don’t have a compelling reason to stick with Yosemite you might consider an upgrade.

    While I can’t help but notice that Mac and origin don’t always see eye to eye (origin is just jealous, imho), I wouldn’t be totally surprised if upgrading to Mojave at least makes your game playable. My advice is based on a hunch and my own experience (read: a single data point with questionable accuracy). In the limited time Ive spent really browsing this forum recently, I’ve noticed a few ppl are really on top of tech triage and resolution. For example, I bet @Bluebellflora or @puzzlezaddict (the third z is silent - very tricky) could give you a play-by-play history of the whole dysfunctional relationship.

    I hope you get sorted and re-operational soon!  🤞

    The current version of the game needs El Capitan or later anyway. Maybe updating your macOS to be compatible with the current game will also fix this? It's a common problem, there is a whole thread devoted to it and other posts scattered around. No definitive fix though.
  • @mallybearcookie1 I managed to figure out the way. We need to reset the Origin. Here is the link where you can use download the origin reset tool. Once you've reset the origin, you need to exit origin & log in again. Hope it helps. Anywho, it would be better if you can update to the latest OS.
  • i am in the process of downloading mac catalina, its the latest version and its in the process of downloading now, it never came up in my updates which i was i dont think i noticed it before. im hoping once it downloads i can either use the reset tool for origin or it'll just work, ill keep you updated!!! ty sm

  • doing it now, hoping thats the problem since ive done everything else lol, thank you for your help!!! praying it works

  • @x4m1r4 i have reset origins using the reset tool and exiting and restarting and all that and it doesn't do anything. i think it needs to be updated hopefully that'll help
