i'm having the exact same issue on my macbook pro. i've tried everything. i unistalled, reinstalled, deleted my cache, moved my mods to a separate folder to temporarily delete them from the game, my macbook is at the most current update it can have (macOS High Sierra, 10.13.6), ((i considered just getting the ea app but i don't know if it'll even be supported with my update.)) and i ran the origin mac helper tool multiple times. nothing.
the weirdest thing, and this may help others even if it didn't help me, but i created an additional user on my macbook and unistalled and reisntalled the game from there. apparently this helped others at least get to the origin login screen. after they verified their game files on the extra user, they went back to their admin/main account and it let them in with no trouble.
i did all that, and it didn't work for me personally. it did make me put in my mac username and password to "allow origin to make changes" and nothing changed. but when i went to my GUEST (not the additional user) account it let me in, it kept my packs downloaded but wouldn't let me access my sims households or progress because i was a "guest". however when i use both the main or additional account, it does the same loading screen forever.
whenever i do get it solved, at least i know my game will load faster than ever before 😅
edit: they don't have an email apparently so idk
EDIT EDIT: some people go to ea, turn on login verification if its off, then turn it back off. apparently according to an apple thread, its the login verification. it needs to be off, and if its already off, turn it on, then off again. it didn't work for me but it apparently helped others. good luck and if anyone else finds any solutions please let me know
